I imagine something that can be called the ultimate flight simulator/game platform. t consists of a reclining seat with moveable base (ultimate FF, lol), seamless monitor/screen that covers front, rear, left and right, and above the head (no track IR or hatswitch necessary, to look around just move my head around), and super "uber" computing power to enable me to run IL2 in perfect settings. Ofcourse the game engine must be modified first to display all 3D environment in the seamless monitor.

You can fly any planes available in FB, almost as good as in real life (not to mention that you dont have to leave the ground at all - especially for me, Im afraid of height http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/34.gif). And what a dogfight it will be... Amazing.

Sigh, dream on... lol http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

What do you guys think?

Repeat after me:

Developers follow the money.
Developers follow the money.
Developers follow the money.

So start building a cockpit now. Developers will not run to hardware makers and say "hey, even though were are in a niche market, we want to start building the ultimate sim platform".

Make it happen, and the developers will take notice.

By the way, my cockpit just got that much more realistic... I finished my first switch panel not 5 minutes ago. It looks good!

If I can find a digital camera, I'll post pics next week.

I just googled and couldnt find it, but in long beach california there is a place where you can schedule rides in flight simulators. they have 6, three f-18 and three f-16.

I tried to get my wife to get me a gift certificate for xmas. it's 60.00 per hour and you need to schedule in advance. The thing gyroscopes so when you invert, the seat you're in inverts as well.

You also wear flight suit and oxy mask.

wife is in minnestoa till monday, she may remember the place. she must have hypnotized me in my sleep again because I totally forgot about that place until this topic.

what was the name of that place...

Baldie, what's the latest news on the devicelink interface? Is it feasible to plug it into the hardware - did you get the problems you had sorted out?

Its still not in a usable state. If you querry it at a reasonable time interval it slows the game down (pause every time you querry). As far as I know, 1C made no changes to it in the last patch, but maybe we'll see some optimizations in the next.
