Using the POV in Lockon is just like using the Mouse in FB.....

Now theres people who make a utility for FB to emulate this headmovement that Lockon uses....

Problem is there not perfect far from it infact
What I want to know is why in heck cant we have Lockon style Viewsystem in FB I mean Patch after patch comes out & still we are stuck with this Snapy head movement that panview offers or even worse is the snapviews........

Newview & Viewplus, these utilitys are great but they have drawbacks, I would love to see OLEG Create the Viewsystem like that of Lockon for headmovement
.
Ya Ya I Know theres TIR but some of us prefer POV hat & If you had Lockon style Headmovement You wouldnt neeed TIR !!!

1C has made a deal with Naturalpoint (TrackIR) not to make such a viewsystem http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

Yeah, a better viewsystem would be nice. With a zoom! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Realy ????

Thats Messed UP !!! If its true.....

What happened to Reality ??? These views are not reality, I delt with these views since Il2 Sturmovik, I thought it was the only way they could do it, so i was content even tho i hated snap/pan-viewing, but then I seen the POWER of FB Viewplus...... and now every day i can only think of how much view potential im being Robed of, Im never going to stop preaching about this Viewsystem I am on a mission to get this fixed

What we have is no good Compared to what we could have & they could add it into one of these damed patches Easily !!!

Get a Saitek stick and run the profiler sofware http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif

And switch the Hat to Mouse mode http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Agreed. I really like the Saitek Mouse look/hat on my X45.

Hmmm, guess I need to get myself an x45 then http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Oh my, my desk (dinner table) is already cluttered with lots of input devices. an A4 sized wacom tablet, a Momo Racing steering wheel, a scanner, a 5.1 surround set and my MSFFB2 joystick.

Not sure if I can fit a x45 there as well lol

ps.: I do have LockOn, but I haven't really played it much. There is a lot of stuff to dig into and process so I usually head for things I know (FB) (plus FB runs a lot smoother on my low-end system)

I have been using a program called "joytokey" since il2 days. It maps the mouse movements to your hat switch. Go on google and search for joytokey. The 1st listing is the english version. After downloading go to the tab other and get to POV switch. Get to a panel that has sliders to set your ranges. Also set up a desktop icon. Before going to game or hyperlobby, press the icon and the panel comes up. Then minimize it to icon tray and then go into game. Im not at home so im not sure if I told you right but it is easy to figure out.
I've been using it successfully for a long time.

Nothing compares to track IR when it is set up properly

The best solution to views when not using track-IR is this:

Note: You should really have a joystick with 2 pov hats, so that means that junky Logitech one, an X45, Thrustmaster Cougar, and maybe a few others to get the most outta this.

I use the X45 and the main hat is mapped to the forward views, IE forward up, forward up right, forward right, right, etc. Then the second hat is mapped as the rear views, EG right back, right back up, etc.(I may have listed a few wrong, but it was a long time since I changed it and dont remember all the names) This lets me snap my view quickly to whereever I want to in the cockpit.

The second part of this is to map the main hat while shifted to the mouse. (most programing software allows this, if not throw out your crappy stick and get a new one) Now you can scan the skys for bad guys just like all those track-IR guys. The best part is once you let go of your shift key and tap any of your hats your view will quickly snap back to the front.

Why use your hat switches at all for that on an X45? Use the little orange button on the throttle as a mouse pan. Use the two hats oin the stick as 4 way switches. Use the hat switch on the throttle that is at the index finger as a 4 way switch as well. If you set your little black button on the trottle to SHIFT/CTRL/ALT in modes 1,2 &3 then you have basically upped all your switches by a factor of 7. The switch in basic mode, the switch in modes 1,2 & 3 and then the switch with the various switches (CTRL/SHIFT/ALT) applied. Dont even get into the mode + pinkie switc you will go nuts. Go into the FB controls menu. See those inputs for power, mixture, prop pitch and all the aircraft controls from elevator up to rudder trim right? Delete them all..... the prop pitch, power and Aircraft controls settings can all be reassigned in the HOTAS section or applied to a slider or switch or button on the stick. By eliminating the presets assigned to those functions you more or less free up those keys for reprogramming elsewhere and in a format that will make more sense to you. Give yourself about an hour or two to really think it out and try to be creative and functional in your assignments. The X45 is THE MOST powerfull stick on the market in that price range and can be a total control set up with a little forethought. Throw in TIR and some rudder pedals and you are rockin and rollin... add in a decent FFB stick ( http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif didn't you know that FB will support up to four flight controllers flawlessly http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif) and you have IMMERSION!! I only use my keyboard to type.

The snappiness is a pain in the neck, yes, but Lock On's view system is far from perfect. In fact, it's a nightmare.

After playing five or six aerial combat simulators, all of which use a similar view system, I was unable to figure out how Lock On's view system works. Let's see, mouse doesn't work, the view keys I assigned don't work... There's PAN LEFT SLOW, PAN LEFT, PAN LEFT FAST, PAN LEFT AND UP SLOW, PAN LEFT AND UP... Do you get the picture? I spent a lot more time going "dubbleyooteeeff" over Lock On's control setup than I did playing it.

And that is the single reason why I will not buy Lock On (well, there's also the added problem of performance, but I think I could get around that). Any game that is so counter-intuitive and impossibly complicated about tasks which in real life (and even, to a much lesser extent, in games like IL-2 and almost any other aerial combat simulator) are the most simple and natural thing, like turning your head or moving the camera around the plane.

If I could afford TIR Id have it Baldie....

to the rest of you thx for the input but Ive been flying this sim since Il2Sturmovic came out, I have everything mapped to my CH Stick & throttle EVERYTHING is perfect as far as that goes, the only thing I find frustrating is the control of the Pilots head movement I mean I have very fast & good control of it using KP8, KP2,KP6,KP4 that is mapped to my POV On my Throttle But I tryed this "FB Viewplus" utility & I want my views to work like that program...

I can only explain it like this, Its Like having TIR on a POV hat or the Mouse on a POV hat, I like using the POV hat and dont nessicaraly want to change to some other style of headmovement.

Im not going to trade them for Saitek X45, I need a real solution not a stick/throttle.

Locust, try out the settings I posted up there for a night, once you get used to it I bet you will like it.

Bearcat, I originally tried to use the little mouse button as the view, but I like having snap views too, and it doesnt work very good as an 8-way. It took my months of trying many of the things you suggested and I settled on that for my view control. I know I could have used the hats to map more functions, but as it stands now I only need to touch the keyboard to type and change to a different TS channel.
