I'm looking for a good frontal pic of a 109F (or maybe early G if its really good) with a black spinner, so if anyone has seen any please tell. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

By the way...what's the diff between a G2 and G4? Is there any particular reason why the G2 is in IL2?

I am pretty sure the only difference between a G2 and a G4 was that the G4 had a pressurized cockpit.

...and those cockpits were not required for the low-altitude fights on the eastern front. So the G2 was the plane of choice.

Cool, yeah that's what I thought. What's a pressurized cockpit for?

Thanks for the great link

pressurized cockpit is useful at high altitude where the air would be very thin and cold By pressurizing the cockpit the pilot is in a much nicer environment.

Wasnt it uneven numbers=pressurized, even numbers=not pressurized?. I remember reading about it some time ago....Besides i think the G4 had different radio too...

For a good list of variants look here:

G4 had a different radio installation and bigger diameter tyres with small bumps on the upper surface of the wing. Neither type were pressurized, in fact G2 and G4 were the unpressurized versions of respectively G1 and G3. The G4 also had a non-retractable tailwheel as a standard.

S!
