I figured it out. I figured out why these forums are loaded with frusteration and complaint. It's not because IL2FB has major problems and issues, or critical flaws and bias models.
It's because Oleg Madox and Ubisoft robbed Microsoft of its decade long custumors with a supior product, and MS cusomers are used to a massive flow of 3rd party add-ons.

The Flight Simulator community was forged with MS Flight Simulators and encouraged to explorer new avenues of development. In turn an entirely independent industry was born. There never was a forum to report "Bugs" because it was so easy to fix it ( change it ) your self.

We used to rely on the honor system when playing on line to avaoid cheats, or unaproved models.
IL2FB eleimated cheats, stream lined online play, and paved the way for a whole new generation of Flight Simulators with supior models, graphics and dynamics.

I wonder if Oleg realized he was restructuring an entire industry when he gave us his first Sturmovich.

In conclusion I don't think its unfair for any one to rant when a plane dosn't do what they thought it would, or the lack of a particular plane completely because we can't do anything about it.

Dear Oleg,
Thank you for IL2, and please understand we do apritiate what you do. NOW WERE IS MY MUSTANG ! ! !

I found this on the floor... I think it fell out of your last line:

H

I love il2 as well, but the flight dynamics are still scripted. X-plane has better flight dynamics, there is a 'feel' missing in il2.

He raises some interesting issues. Being a staunch MS flight sim fan (until IL2 came along), I have witnessed some amazing fan driven industries take shape over the last 15+ years I've been into flight sims. It's all due to the open source code policies of MS. Unfortunantly, competitive online games bring out the selfish cheaters and now we find ourselves fans of one of the most remarkable flight sims to date, hamstrung to modify it in benificial ways. I don't fault Oleg for that. It's his baby to do with what he wishes.

As for the 'feel' that is missing. Are you nuts? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

go check out:

Dig around for a while and then you will realize what is going on with that line of sims. I would love to build a cockpit with working gauges and have all the knobes, levers and switches work the way they are suposed to. As close as I can get is a keyboard encoder. The guages, they may never work in IL2.

*sigh*

Icarus, I agree with you 99.9% . I truly believe that in order for this to be a great sim, as it has, people need to say when something is not right. When I first came here, I did not understand this, but I have grown up a bit. We have to use the FM's as they are encoded into the game, and have no power to change things ourselves, therefore, we have to bring problems to the attention of the developer. Thank God that they at least listen, whether they are able to fix some things or not.

The other .01% ? That is for unproductive, childish, not presented well, "I'm leaving FB 4ever", arguments that crop up here once in a while.

The last patch is evidence that 1C listens, at least to some of us. And, hey, that's how you win return customers.

I have to admit I was right in there with that %0.09 complain, complain, complain.....

Then I went back the simouthouse to see whats going on in the MS world, and although some nifty stuff is being shared folks are having a hard time flying online. Groups are small, games are small, their still limited to FFA.

on the other they don't have to wait for add-ons, Gmax is free now.
