is there anyway to pan in the cockpit view other than f9, that only turns on snap or pan, so in other words if you pan using the hat it only goes in increments unlike snap and then that only looks to a certain point and than snaps back, i want to be able to just hold the hat switch and pan the view until i let of the switch, not have to keep hitting that same direction with the hat switch to pan around 180 degrees, so if i look left i have to keep hitting the hat left to pan all the way around . cant you change that? anyone know how?

Yes there are ways...
If you have a Saitek stick - run the profiler, ans set hat switch to mouse-mode.

Otherwise try if your stick software has something like it.

There are some programs out there too that convert hat commands to mouse commands, don't have the names / links though

Question: Did you back-up your files?
Answer: I didn't know they had a reverse...

Or you can use a small utility called JoytoKey, so you can program your hatswitch to move like the mouse. You can get it here:

and you want it to look like this:

NewView is another popular solution that allows you to attach mouse movement to any device essentially allowing you to pan freely with any joystick. I don't know much about it as I have a Saitek X45 and don't need it, but many of the people I fly with use it.

Get it here: http://www.mousevision.com/game/newView.htm

With no further purchases or downloads you can try mouse panning but goto FB Input menu and change mouse sensitivity to 5.0 or even 10.0 (the max). Then you can pan the sky with barely moving your wrist. Once you learn it you will follow all maneuvering targets super smooth. This frees up your hat switches for other uses like Zoom Views and the gunsight head shift view.
