So, I just got back from a two week motorcycle trip through Italy;
I've seen a lot of stuff and I thought it might be fun (if people are interested of course) to share some pics of a couple of recognizable spots here ;)
Forum members from Italy or who've seen it all maybe couldn't care less, but still!
Please note these might not be the best of pictures. I took 'em with a digital camera, like a true tourist!

After heading through the mountains, our first stop was Pisa. After that we went towards Rome via this little town:
San Gimignano!

http://oi40.tinypic.com/63symg.jpg

I thought it was really cool to finally see the real thing. Apart from the bazillion tiny stores and the tourists it doesn't seem to have changed much in all it's years!

So after that we spent a couple of days in Rome.
One of the most obvious attractions is of course the Colosseum:

http://oi44.tinypic.com/53tkyc.jpg

Then there was Castel Sant'Angelo:
Just a d*mn shame about the crane though...

http://oi41.tinypic.com/nqzas4.jpg

Climbable stuff:

From the walls:

http://oi44.tinypic.com/2wgdhfa.jpg

And a nice vie of the Vatican from the castle walls:

http://oi44.tinypic.com/15ivki.jpg

That day might've been the first time I got to cross that bridge without being completely swarmed by angry guards....

http://oi43.tinypic.com/30xjy4i.jpg

The Pantheon.
A lot larger than i imagined it for some reason:

http://oi43.tinypic.com/ajq71s.jpg

The awesome ceiling:

http://oi40.tinypic.com/3swad.jpg

Which had quite a cool effect on the walls:

http://oi43.tinypic.com/2cmm06s.jpg

Santa Maria in Aracoeli
"I like the ceiling!" ;)

http://oi39.tinypic.com/vetyx0.jpg

No First Civ tech that i could find though.

In Rome I also visited one of the catacombs on which one of the Lairs of Romulus was based on.
Taking pictures in there wasn't allowed though.

After Rome we went towards Florence via Sienna and of course...

Monteriggioni:

http://oi40.tinypic.com/2yzkec5.jpg

Probably the only town of which the real thing is actually smaller than it's AC version.

http://oi39.tinypic.com/674ide.jpg

And then we spent a couple of days in Florence.
There's the Ponte Vecchio:

http://oi42.tinypic.com/3h4yq.jpg

Palazzo Vecchio:

http://oi39.tinypic.com/2lwujyh.jpg

Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, which was impossible to capture on one picture:

http://oi44.tinypic.com/21e0q54.jpg

We got a pretty d*mn nice view from the tower though:

http://oi42.tinypic.com/10mtr8p.jpg

And one more of Florence

http://oi43.tinypic.com/b4akjb.jpg

After Florence we went toward Venice, with a couple of stops in Bologna and some other (small) towns.

Ponte di Rialto in Venice:

http://oi41.tinypic.com/23gzmll.jpg

Unfortunately most picture I took on Piazza San Marco are really crappy so these aren't the best...

Here's one of (part of) the Cathedral. Unfortunately a large part of the cathedral was covered in scaffolding... that's why i didn't get the whole thing.

http://oi42.tinypic.com/4hqtk0.jpg

The view from the tower was quite beautiful:

http://oi41.tinypic.com/2wcionm.jpg

These next shots should be quite recognizable. :p

http://oi42.tinypic.com/b830js.jpg

Unfortunately, due to my utter stupidity, the camera battery died after that so i couldn't get any more shots of Venice....

Anyway, Venice was our last stop. After that we went back home through the mountains, Austria and Germany.

Hope you enjoyed!

So freaking awesome! I recognised the buildings before you said what they were, especially SG. Awesome stuff! My cousin just got back from Rome, and it is such a beautiful place.

the places are so memorable because of AC

ezio had the best story and locations so far :) the roof top image of that castle reminded me of E3 demo of AC2 (My favorite E3 demo so far)

i hope you had so much fun my friend because i certantily did from looking at the pics and Remembering Assassin's Creed

Thanks Tim! those were great! Granted I don't remember the names of all the buildings sadly, but I remember seeing most of them in the game Italy is truly beautiful! :D Ubisoft did a great job re-creating it. Looks like you had a great trip! It's stunning to see how these building have stood the test of time, also the construction of these building was magnificent! Also thinking about it there is no way in Hell Ezio could have climbed some of these the way he did.

I most certainly did! :D As i said we visited a couple of more (non AC :p ) towns and by traveling by motorbike you get to see sooo much of the country! It's beautiful!

Kinda did, yes :p Even though the cities in AC are not recreated one on one, the overall layout is still right.
Having never been in any of these cities before, i still got to find certain landmarks by kinda knowing where i had to go.

Hahah, yes. That's what i thought as well, seeing some of these buildings. :p The real thing is usually much larger than in the game and Ezio would just be inhuman if he could jump some of these distances. :p

I have to ask: Did you taste the ice cream in San Gimignano? It is insanely delicious. :p

Anybody have any Mt St Michel pictures? From what I've seen and heard it looks shockingly similar to the AC multiplayer counterpart!

Wow, amazing pictures mate. That picture of the ceiling of the Pantheon really is striking. Florence still makes me think of home even though it never actually was my home, and tower in Venice looks way bigger than I remember. Really good pictures, love em.

Looks awesome! I went to Italy back in November/December with a group from my school, and when we went to Santa Croce I couldn't stop myself from running around screaming "THIS IS WHERE EZIO MADE HIS FIRST ASSASSINATION!" Well, unless you count that guard who harassed Leonardo. Which I don't.

I'd surely recommend it!
The only thing I didn't really like (especially in Venice), although it's quite inevitable, was the massive amount of tourists.
In Venice, it seemed that about one-third of all the people was actually Italian.

Fantastic pics! Had a similar trip three years ago (apart from Rome, unfortunately, where I've never been) and went to Istanbul two years ago, just prior to the release of ACR.
One time I had this déjà vu feeling when visiting Italy, the other time I had the same feeling when playing ACR.

God, I'd love to do this. All over Italy, just me and my bike.

However, you did not get a picture from the top of the flagpole on the Castel Sant'Angelo. You disappoint me.
