View Full Version : Acceleration in a Dive for p47

Someone made a comment that the acceleration in a dive for the p47 was slow - and the zoom climb a bit lacking.

Are there numbers that could show this to test against?

Also, I'm not sure if acceleration speeds are modelled in this game or not?

If I took a p47D10 and a 190a5, what kind of comparision in dive acceleration would I see? Let's say a dive from 6000m to maybe 2000m ? I know they both reach high speeds, but I'm more interested in the time it takes.

Lastly, how would you describe the zoom climb in a 190a5 in real life (all I have read about is the p47 and p51).

I'm sure the more technical amoung us might be able to answer this.

Again - looking more for technical data not just bias'd opinions http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Please no flame wars!!! I know they could be tested in the game - amount of time to reach a certain speed - but I have no data to compare against.

edit: had to fix some silly typo http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If by exceleration you meant acceleration then I find that now the Jug dives really fast compared with ver. 1.0. It does not take that much to reach > 450 kph in a dive. I found that no plane can keep it up in aa dive with the Jug right now. The higher you are , the better.

The Jug remains responsive and stable even at speeds of 900kph...even if you take it to the deck. I cant speak for the 190 for I havent tried it.

The 190 won't go 900kph. It starts to lose control surfaces at about 800kph.

I know it can go fast and handle high speeds.

What I am asking is the time to reach the high speed in a dive.

Very important for the Jug.

I've taken a P-47 to speeds over 900 kph (940 actually) on a few occassions with no problem.

These aren't hard stats but diving from 4000m and going 940kph, I was able to zoom climb back up to about 2200m without stalling...barely. I thought this was rather good, but it could have been because of the "flying brick" qualities in previous versions.

Very difficult to say what the dive-speed should be...
What I like to know is if there is a difference in IL-2/FB if a P-47 which has 25% fuel or 100% load. Extra ammo or empty...This all should make a diffirence...

Should the initial acceleration be slow due to drag ?

according to US tests, in a dive 190 gained first some advantage due to better acceleration, but after a while the mass of p47 prevailed and she let the wurger far behind...
and zoomclimb... should be good but A4 will never outzoom P47D, but maybe A9 is another coffee /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
