This is just speculation on my part, but I think this might be possible. They both look similar enough...

Ubisoft made a statement that they would like to tie in the AC movie with a new game launch, and if both this game and the film are set to premiere in fiscal 2013...

Do you think this is likely? Possible? No chance in hell? Does anyone else see a potential resemblance? I'd be especially happy with this, because I don't want the AC film to just be an unnecessary remake of one of the games.

He could, but i prefer Andrew Lincoln with beard (and blonde hair), he has much more charisma in my opinion.

Oh my god I never thought of it. He kinda fits the mould perfectly. I mean we speculated who he's gonna play, Desmond? Altair? Ezio? Connor (lol) ? But Edward is perfect for him.

Hmm interesting, he could do it. Ubisoft of course could tie it into the movie.

Still Nolan North ftw!!!

Yeah same here. I want the movie to stand on its own, have its own little place in the lore.

Even if the movie is not going to be a adaptation of the game's plot, I still think it should happen in the Crusades era. It's going to be reeling a huge chunk of audience absolutely unfamiliar with the world of AC, so it's better off to start with an era where Assassins and Assassin Order actually existed. And leave all the other Assassins for later. Otherwise people will just go all 'WTF'.

I mean, sure you can say in the movie, 'Oh, the Assassins and Templars never disappeared and we're following this Pirate Assassin fighting Spanish Templars' (or something like that), but... uuuhhh... Yeah, no.

It makes alot of sense actually.

Fair skinned, light haired assassin to be played by a fair skinned, light haired actor

He definitely looks the part. But I would hate to see the movie based on a game. I think it should has its own story.

Maybe the film could be a prequel or something?

Sorry for the double post, but I edited the OP with a photoshopped image of Fassbender's face over the Assassin assumed to be Edward Kenway...looks pretty good if you ask me.

And don't forget that mysterious McFarlane figure that has not been revealed yet. It could be him. Edward I mean. http://www.clarktoys.com/sefitascrse1.html

I still would like a non-game based film with its own script though.

If it is a film about Edwards story set before/after the game, I will be thrilled.

If it's just a film adaptation of the game, I'll still watch it :)

They look similar (nice photoshopping btw), but the thing that makes me sceptical is the Pirate theme. I don't think Ubi want the movie to be compared to Pirates of the Caribbean all the time. So my guess would be no.
