Hi

I've been flying the Yak-9T since the beggining of "IL-2 Sturmovik"!
Now i've installed the beautifull AEP and the patch 2.01 and tried what i was waiting for a long long time! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Yes. The Yak-9UT!!! I must tell you that it is beautifull for what i could see untill now (only 3 or 4 dogfights off-line to try it). I´ve installed it yesterday!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

But there was something i found strange (have in mind that i dont know much about this new plane)!
There is a big cannon on the propeller hub similar to the 45mm on the Yak-9K!!!
I've readed what i could today about the 9UT and found that there were 3 versions of this bird. One with a 23mm, one with a new N-37mm (not the old NS-37), and one with the 45mm of the K version.

So, The question is simple! What is the cannon that is in the prop hub of this new 9UT that come on the 2.01 patch?

I've tried the aircraft and wasn't dificult to bring some enemys down! That makes me think that it must be the 37mm with the recoill i'm used to. But the cannon looks too big on the aircraft!
So to be sure (and because there are no specifications about the new aircrafts in the sim) i think you are the best person to answer Oleg http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Congratulations on the work you've done!
This sim is better and better as time goes by...

Thanks and hugs to all the comunity http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Yeah thats the N-37 on the Yak-9UT. Its a pretty awesome fighter as long as you don't exceed 550 kph IAS and the controls start to get sluggish.

The cannon "looks big" but I think the cannon is just probably mounted further forward on the 9UT than the 9T.

yeah , but mind you there where no hispano for p39 added since the original il2, so dont expect to get the guns (wonder why bf109 can choose its nose mounted gun..)

Icefire. Thanks for the exact answer to my question! I had the oportunity now for training a good little bit with the new plane and i must tell you it is really a great gun!

your talking about the G6(variants) i guess ?
because the G14,G10 and K4 have only the mk108
while they also should have the MG151/20MM to choose from. wich is a loss IMO

Would be nice to get the complete collection of armaments for aircraft, to make the best ever greatest game/sim even a little better...

I´m curious how they mounted those big prop-hub guns, did´nt the P-39 get its engine behind cockpit in order to mount the gun in the nose?
hm. is it a piston-engine in the yak?

Unfortunately it is not N-37 but NS-37 cannon (same as on Yak-9T). N-37 had less weight, recoil and muzzle velocity.

"The best fighters I met in combat were the American P-51 Mustang and Russian Yak-9U. Both of those types obviously exceeded all Bf109 variants in performance, including the 'K'. The Mustang was unmatched in altitude performance, while the Yak-9U was champion in rate of climb and maneuverability."

correct. the N-37 was used on prototypes only.
