Where is the map? Where are the guard locations? Every time I play the game, I do every single investigation before proceeding to do the main mission. Often I will aquire a map detailing the guard positions, yet I have never seen anything on the in game mini map, nor have I seen an option to open it from an inventory or something. Am I missing something simple here? Or is this a glitch / something they forgot to actually put into the game?

I just checked and it only has the various collectables (Viewpoints, Flags, Crosses, Templars) Would the map only show up during the mission maybe?

Go to the list of memories. And cycle through your current target's investigation memories. Some of them will have a little symbol saying "additional info". Press the button to see that additional info. It sometimes will be a map with guard positions. A possible escape route. Locations of scaffolding. Stuff like that.

Oh wow, thanks! I always thought it was odd that I never got to use the info.

For those curious who ain't got AC1 installed or anything right now :p. This was just taken quickly from the stage i am at in my current playthrough. There's better maps than this one in the game but you get the general idea.

Yeah I found these after my 5th playthrough XD It felt much better, the assassination at the party was the most fun.

Was a cool feature, wonder why they removed it? I also missed it on my first playthrough, but stumbled upon it on myc second. After that I used it as much as I could, fun times :D. There must have been some miss in how it was presented as so many of us missed it.

Probably because the missions started getting more linear and cinematic in AC2. I miss this feature too, it felt rewarding to get some info relating to your targets after completing an investigation instead of something useless, like cash.

Yeah they should have expanded upon it instead of removing it. Maybe the ties did another survey and found out that noone was using the feature so they decided to remove it. But the reason noone used it was because they didn't know it existed...

Oh yeah totally forgot about that one. I actually played that mission before I got on here haha. I love how they give you a perfect route up to the beam where you hang just above Nuqoud...but there's only 1 problem...you can air assassinate him from there...You have to jump down, chase him, and then kill.

You don't have to chase him, actually. You can quietly drop down and assassinate him from behind before his guards notice.

Still one of the best assassination missions in the whole franchise!

There were a lot of things Ubisoft didn't emphasis on in AC1. For example, the maps detailing guard positions and routes to your target. It was always there, but there was never any side note saying you can check it out, unless you went to the DNA menu yourself to see what you actually learned. I think in future games they should point saying "You have discovered a route to your target. Click <insert button here> to look at the map" or something along those lines.

They could easily implement this like they do with people, buildings, events etc. Have it pop up in the notifications bar and if you wish to use it then as you said hit select (PS3) to view this info.
