That looks like a pretty big bird to set down on a small deck. Should be interesting.

Heywoood,

If you are thinking of Torpedo 8 during the Battle of Midway, they were mounted in Devastators, not Avengers.

Hope we get the Devastator, AI would be just fine.

Actaully, VT-8 was a mix of both. An account from then Ensign Earnest, the other "sole survivor". (http://boatcoach.tripod.com/flightline/id109.html)

They are suprisingly big. I saw one in person a few weeks ago and was amazed at the sheer size of the thing. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

Yeah they sure are. I also thought they'd be a lot smaller, but judging from pics with people standing next to the Avenger it's real big.
Will be fun flying with or against this one http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Oh and by the way it's looking great, keep up the good work PF team!

Yup, the Avenger is a big bird.

Another plane that totally amazed me with its size was the Bf-110. That thing is MASSIVE - 12.5 meters in length, 16.2 meters wingspan. For comparison, a Ju-88 is 14.5 m in length with 18.3 meters wingspan.

By the way, the Avenger is almost the same exact size as the 110, and the same weight. Except it was never intended to be a fighter http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Ya. The Avenger SHOULD be classed as a single engine medium bomber it was so bit!

My post's are my asumptions only, and in no way linked to fact. I am not an official 1C, Ubi, or Russian Red Rocket spokesman.

Another planes which look smaller than they were are Stukas and Hs 123. Those birds are giants.

The turret on the back is messed up.

I could do the same with Clinton in a Vietnam sim, but he burned his draft notice. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Its a work in progress I think is what Luthier said - about the cockpit frames - but still, yer gonna make Mr. Hat all frowny with that kinda premature criticism.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif..

BtW - Clinton didn't intentionally burn that notice.. he used it to put out the cigarette that he never inhaled on...

I've never had the luck to see a Bf-110 in person but I agree that the Stuka is deceptively big. I've seen lots of pics with people milling around and it really gives away it size.

Yes indeed I can imagine those Battle of Midway Scenarios already.

VT-8 was in the process of transitioning to the TBF at the time of the Battle of Midway. The Devestators were aboard ship, and a small group of the TBFs were sitting on Midway waiting to catch up with the ship. The TBFs were used to attack the IJN invasion task force off Midway, and lost all but one plane, and that one was a write off when it returned. A really good read about this engagement can be found in Martin Cadin's book called "Ragged Rugged Warriors".

good evening,
in photo one you will note the top of the gun turret is not perfectly rounded, looks like one of these shoooters from 7-8 years ago.please compare to your real photos in two and three.
the second point is there is too much space between the ball turret and the main cabin and the turret seems to be way too low in the fuselage.
thats my opinion and your photos confirm same.
really looking forward to piloting her ,been waitting many years for this.
cheers

And before you start clinging to straws aminx, the antennas are different because these the photo and the shots are of two different Avenger variants.

Regarding adding extra polys to the turret, well SORRY. I really don't want to waste any more time on this, but maybe somebody who's familiar with modeling for the game will explain to you about the connection between rounded surfaces, poly limits, and FPS. That turret is already almost 10% of the total Avenger polycount.

thanks reply which is most interesting.i always thought and said to friends over the years that this part of the plane was the most challenging part to develope.the last time i sat in the rear gunner turret of an avenger was almost 10 years ago in PACIFIC STRIKE by Origin just after i bought my first pc a 586 with 8mb video card.I CANT WAIT !!!!!!!

i believe that one of the problems of adding too many pollies to a plane causes serious FPS problems.and we dont want that, right.LUTHIER maybe can explain to us one day the relationship between pollies, total mass of plane and its relationship to FPS nd pc hardware.its all related.for egasample for B.O.B
even the plane models have to be redone and oleg asked everyone what video card they had.the future of quality is pointing in that direction.

seriously aminx, I dont think that there will be many guys saying "Oh, I dont like the way the Avenger turret is modeled, I wont fly the thing."

The MG looks really tiny to me, Luthier1, with all due respect. but it is still .50cal, right? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/smileys-gun2.gif I dont care how it looks like(well, sort of), but how it shoots.I am saying, Saburo Sakai will be overmodelled http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif

O, how I want to hold you,
To feel your breath
And hear your laughter in my ears.
To look into your eyes
And see myself in there.
Caress you with my lips.
To hold your hands in mine
And find the hidden smile in your dimple
That makes you irresistible
And stops the breathing in my chest.
To be with you when you are weeping,
To wipe away the tears and take away the sorrow.
To watch you while you are sleeping
Like there is no tomorrow.

And with a tender kiss to wake you up.
