IL2 DGen Tweaker

http://public.rz.fh-wolfenbuettel.de/~himstedm/sneak.gif

Tired of Jabo missions flying a FW 190 A5 in a fighter campaign? Does your Staffelkapit√¬§n always want you to attack bridges in your Ju 87 G? Tell him to get lost since you have the ultimate answer...DGen Tweaker!

Snippet from the readme file (available at website):

USAGE
=====

First of all, what's a ClassesXXX.dat file?

ClassesXXX.dat files are stored in IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles' DGen subfolder. A certain
ClassesXXX.dat file belongs to a specific ingame campaign, XXX stands for the campaign's abbreviation:
"DeZ" is German Zerstoerer campaign, "FrA" is French fighter campaign, "RoB" is Romanian bomber campaign.

A ClassesDeN.dat (German Army Group North campaign) file could contain the following lines:

BF_109F2 FIGHTER
BF_109G2 JABO

With a file like this, the ingame campaign generator should never create ground attack missions for the
109F2 during this campaign.

You can create and edit all these files manually, but...why? You have IL2 DGen Tweaker. It will let you make
the changes you wish without editing files.

How to use:

Start IL2 DGen Tweaker. At the very first start you are asked (forced) to direct the program to the path of
IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles (see KNOWN BUGS AND LIMITATIONS). You MUST specify the correct path or
IL2 DGen Tweaker won't work correctly! After that you can select the type of campaign you wish to edit at
the top; the Plane type menu becomes available. Choose the plane type you wish to edit.

If the selected plane type has a specific mission preference already set you'll see one of the button to
the right set to ALL, GROUND etc.; if not, NONE is selected. You can make your choice for the plane, the
changes are apllied immediately. Be aware that the settings will apply to the next mission GENERATED which
is not necessarily the next mission flown since the next mission is generated once you hit the apply button.

What does ALL, GROUND etc. mean?

NONE = DGen's default setting for this plane type.

ALL = all missions, fighter and ground attack.
FIGHTER = escort, intercept, recon missions.
LIGHT = same as fighter, "soft" ground targets like trains can be attacked.
TANK = soft targets + tanks, not antiship or anti bridge.
JABO = scramble, recon and all ground attack missions.
GROUND = only ground targets, suitable for bombers or ILs.

You can get the whole readme file at IL2 DGen Tweaker's website at

http://fly.to/dgentweaker

I hope to release version 1.0 during this week, at the moment I'm into implementing campaign data and beta testing. IL2 DGen tweaker will be available in a zip file containing the setup.

Wow, looks interesting. Thanks for making a program for the offline folks, and to DGEN users in particular. Do you have plans to expand your program to include the conf.ini settings, or even including planes not normally included in campaigns (like placing the P-38, P-51, etc. in Allied or the German jets and rocket aircraft in Axis campaigns) ?

I hope this isn't an April Fool's joke http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

First of all: no, it's not a joke, the program is more or less finished and needs some testing only.

I will definately include the possibility to change the "normal" DGen settings like number of plane groups, AI setting etc., I just wanted to focus on the other features DGen offers. I don't know of any tool that let's you change the Classes settings, so I wanted to make one.

Regarding manually added planes and campaigns: at the moment, the program's code is very static, it's the first program I ever wrote for the public and I had to learn how to read data out of files in the process at first. The selectable planes are hardcoded and cannot be read dynamically at startup. There are certain limitations in the graphical interface I use, too. It would require a lot of recoding, and I'll focus on smaller things first. Another reason is that I think (thought? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) that people who add planes manually can edit Classes files manually, too.

But who knows, may be one day I'll have the time to change this.

Anyway, thanks for the interest. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Will it work for the bf-110? As far as I can see after flying almost every mission - they are all for Jabos in every campaign- & pretty long flights they are too!I hope it will have some effect & willl be announced soon....

Yes, you can change the mission preferences for the Zerstoerer, too. Chaning the target distance is not supported in the first version though, but it will be added.
