GDC 2013 is taking place between March 25-29 and already several big games games from last year will be on show. There are going to live speeches by developers of XCOM: Enemy Unknown based on art autopsy, the excellent audio tricks used in Assassinís Creed III which were borrowed from film, and how Battlefield 3′s Battlelog has successfully captured online gaming.

ĎArt Direction Autopsy: XCOM: Enemy Unknowní will be delivered by Greg Foertsch from Firaxis games. The lecture will last for an hour and will educate the audience about the evolution of the art direction for XCOM: Enemy Unknown. The lecture will also strive to make users understand how art can affect gameplay.

Ubisoftís duo Benedicte Ouimet and Jerome Angelot will explain the music behind their last venture in ĎAssassinís Creed III Music Score: Redefining Musical Standards for the AC Brandí. They will explain the process behind the music of the much acclaimed Assassinís Creed 3 and share their experiences, missteps and hindrances while creating the score.

Battlefieldís Battlelog system has garnered praise from several fans due to itís robust online structure. EAís Ben Medler will be there to deliver a survey on the Battlelog system and will share his experience in what makes this data driven business model move ahead.

Thought it would be something interesting to share. :)

Beating a dead horse here but these 2 failed in the musical department in my opinion, they didn't redefine anything, the ambient sounds were more or less the same as previous titles and in comparison to a game like Battlefield Bad Company 2's war tapes audio option, it plain sucked. Not to mention my biggest gripe with the game, Balfe doing an incredible job with the soundtrack yet the music supervisors omitting ambient music, just a horrible choice. Really hope Benedicte Ouimet isn't involved in future AC titles.

This just angers me.
