View Full Version : IMPORTANT: how to check if music is missing after DLC installation

I decided to open a new thread for the " missing music bug ", because I noticed that the majority of players are not aware that the music is missing during single-player game.
I will also sum up which information has been discovered by the users.

1) The bug occurs after the "Hidden Secrets" DLC is installed.

2) Music will be deleted from every scripted event (chases, etc), single player mission, cutscene where before music played. You can verify this yourself by accessing the following DNA sequences:

- the opera mission with haytham, total silence in the opera
- sequence 1 on the ship, where haytham fights with the sailors on the deck
- sequence 3 first mission where haytham fights with the redcoats in the tavern
- sequence 4 first mission, when kids go out in the forest to play
- (minor spoiler) sequence 6 mission 2 where stephan go out to kill some redcoats and you escort him

3) music will only play during random fights with redcoats in the frontier or in towns

4) The cause of the issue resides in the DLC file. Proof: removing the file DataPC_DX11_3-dlc.forge from the game directory, will bring the music back, but will delete the DLC content from your game and you won't even be able to access saved games played after DLC installation.

Please post here if you've got the same bug (after checking the aforementioned DN sequences)

Yeah it is true. The music is gone from the game after the DLC, and it's very annoying.

I also didnīt discovered the bug in 2 hours of gameplay,I just derped arround in the frontier and in new york, until a played a naval mission with the ship.
Itīs sad because I canīt play the game to itīs end now, because without the (very good) soundtrack the AC-Atmosphere is just gone D:

Got this bug... its funny how Ubisoft is blaming this on PC's while it is obviously theyre fault, they did the same with Revelations, and NEVER fixed this, so start asking for refunds.

I also have this crappy bug. So far, no reasonable answer of support. Ubisoft should be ashamed for such a lousy service. I bought the Season Pass for good money and can not use it now, because the music is missing. It is sad that Ubisoft apparently does not care.

P.S. Sorry for my bad english

Uninstall the DLC you payed for, ask for a refund... because Ubisoft is blaming this on the gamers themselves and won't patch this.

FarCry 3 gets 3 patches if not more and Assassin's Creed 3 is still running like a ****. Now with the new DLC, music missing I just don't know how long I'll take this crap with Ubisoft. So the question is: When the hell are you, Ubisoft, planning to fix your **** game?

Same problem.
DLC killed off all scripted single player missions music. Also checked on these 2 mission:
- the very first beginning (less then 5 minutes into play), as Desmond, when first discover temple (AC3 main theme should play during cutscene)
- sequence 7: Midnight Ride (riding horse with Revere), absolutely sure, music should play here

As posted, deleting DLC forge file returns correct state and makes saves unaccessable.
Mod/Dev help needed, seems like pretty easely fixable bug, though quite critical, makes game unenjoyable.

There's something I don't understand. I pre-purchase the Deluxe Edition, and this DLC was already contained in this edition. I hadn't any music issues since this week !

Maybe because the DLC was unlocked this week even for the Deluxe Edition

Guys, I have the Deluxe Edition bought on steam. The DLC was already included. I finished the game couple days ago and replayed the missions you mentioned that the music wonīt play, but for me the music is playing fine in every one of them. I donīt know if my DLC files are somehow different, but if you guys wish, I can upload my file and you can test for yourself. Just let me know here or drop me a pm.

Happy new year to everyone ! :)

Unbelievable that they didn't find this during testing. I'm glad I haven't downloaded the DLC yet -- and I am planning on getting the Hidden Secrets pack.

I got the game through steam with that dlc included, same issue :( It is not surprising that something like that can be missed, I can accept that with so many configurations, different installation routes with different editions etc, but it must be ackowledged by UBI and we should be informed. I raised a ticket also, if they start saying it is my system they gonna get a good spanking unless they can tell me what it is. I tried it too, deleting the DLC and a new save, and the music works fine.

It is the installation that is bodged somehow, not our systems

Come on UBI, I am patient but this must be fixed and ackowledged as an issue and not be rejected.

For those with steam just manually delete the file as mentioned, but do not update the game or revalidate the files in steam or those files will be put back automatically. Of course as said, it only works with a new save or a save that does not depend on that DLC.

I've said this in another thread, but whatever, I like to repeat myself.

The only hope I have is that this music bug gets "magically" fixed when the next DLC is released (Tiranny of Washington Episode 1), which is 19th of February if I'm not mistaken (and I probably will be mistaken).

That's what I'm afraid of: that all of this no-music glitch is just a catch to make us buy the washington dlc ;) THEN, I wouldn't be surprised if the music would miraculously reappear.

Just wish they'd get it fixed. If it's truly just a small screwup in the installation process, that should be incredibly simple to fix for a developer.
