I disagree. I flew the L for a while but I've found myself to be more effective with the J. The extra speed is critical when fighting other energy fighters and B&Z-ers, and the ability to feather a prop is invaluable when you've got a damaged engine.

Bf110...been waiting for her for 2 years now http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Great fun to join a DF server. Although I don't remember that i ever RTBed after a DF with both engines working :P Still I love to hunt for those guys in their shiny little Spits hehehe.

This has been the trademark of Spit types thorought every sim I've played - from WB, AH to FB.

Got a Betty with 20mm rear gunner ? Who's gonna attack it from dead 6 ? Of course, your usual Spitty kamikaze http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I really like them all... but the ME-109Z is a Pisser to fly againest the formations of B-17's.
The P-38's are Super for anti-shipping and for knocking down those Zero fighters.
And the ME-110 is one Hec of a Ground Buster and is B-17 Killer.
So many Choices!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

I like the Me-110 and BF-109z since they both got heavy firepower. The 110 got different kits that comes in handy when u have to deal with ground targets.

P-38J. Why? Because I like her.
I like the paint, I like the ground-pounding ability (although the 'L' carrys more punch), I can feather props, (Saved my life in one mission), and P-38's are sexy. The Germans didn't call them twin-tailed devils for nothing.
I suppose I'd like the 'L' better if it had paint even though that's not (generaly) historicaly accurate.

And the 109Z is a hoot! So much firepower. I've knocked B-17's out of the sky from .75 klicks away with a short burst. Not a very realistic plane IMO, but what was Oleg going to use as a flight model? Although I would have preferred a Japanese bomber or a B-25, the 109Z is fun and should be a hit in fantasy DF rooms.

109z is fun for head on jousting. Those wing guns sure shake things up though. When you've got all 5 cannons going its like being on the runway in an earthquake, nose is all over the place. I take that as a testament to Zs raw power. hehe

the P-38J version is a little faster than the J model, it seems to climb faster also.

Surprising P-38L. Climbs, dives (w/o compressibility), turns well, flies fast, rolls slow...carries a big stick (mg & loadout).

Until the Mosquito, as Tully said.

I voted for the 110, but the p 38 is a great plane too. But I find that the P38 as a fighter does not stand a chance against late was LW planes. Specialy the A9 wich I constantly fly. My kills and points have increased 3 fold since the release of AEP because of all the P38 kills ive been getting. And there are much fewer La7's out there wich makes my job even easier http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The J isn't any faster than the L is. The L is a much better energy fighter because you don't have to worry about diving into the dirt nose-first because of dive flaps. Also, *all* P-38 models, from the YP-38s to the P-38L, could feather props.

The J doesn't have anything over the L to make it any more special, especially when talking late war.

I voted for the 110, and also like the 38's, but I'd really like to have the He-219 and the Mosquito.

I would gladly trade all the hypothetical crap, ie Go-229, Bl-1, YP-80, 109Z, that never saw service for more planes that did. But, new A/C come out all the time, so I'll just have to be patient.

Looking forward to the B-25 and Ju-88. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I voted for the Bf-110. I don't fly the P-38's much but they certainly have my respect and I enjoy flying those too. I don't care for fantasy planes with "best guess" flight models so the Bf-109Z and Go-229 are automatically disqualified, atleast for me. The 109Z did fly ok though on the 2 occasions I flew it.

I guess I should start following orders from the LW supreme commander (Pdog), so I will end this with the new axis war cry. Me-110 Akbar! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

The 110 gets an honourable mention just for the shear versatility. But the P38L still wins my heart over, especially flying with korolov http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. You will do alot better in the 38 once you realise, as gibbage said, the P38 is a mudmover who can dogfight, not a dogfighter who can mudmove.

I love both 38's. The J though seems a bit more nimble for some reason. That said, it seems that either have a steeper learning curve to fight well in. You're in trouble if any of the late war planes get on your tail.

It also doesn't seem to change direction as quickly at high speeds as when chasing a bandit that breaks.

I love them though! I was flying a Zero the other night, got "noob target fixation" while diving on a 109. Without warning, my plane literaly exploded. I barely heard the shells hit!. Quickly checked six and saw a J screaming down on me! I know why the Japanese Zero pilots feared it.

I find myself flying both planes about an equal amount of time. So far I have been ignoring the other new planes in the expansion. Its a shame because there is some cool stuff there there-especially early war. However, I just love the twin engine planes. Please Oleg, give us more. I am willing to spend money.

I voted for the 110 even though I will fly the P-38 more often, especially on-line. The 110 is one tough bird! I set up a QMB against 12 B-17s and took down 5 of them and had another one damaged. I was shot to heck, but landed safely. One engine smoking, fuel leaks and gunsight shot away after kill #4 to name a few problems.

I like the P-38, but neither one is nearly as tough a the 110. Get anywhere near ground fire and a fuel leak is guaranteed.
