He-111H-8 fitted with a combined balloon-cable fender and cutter.
Equipment was fitted to a number of He-111H-3 & H-5 aircraft which were re-designated He-111H-8.

Would this model be worth having in game?
We do have balloons!?!?
Does anyone have any links to the operational use of this equipment.
Could it be used on parachutes?!?!

I don't see any practical use for it in game at all, the detail of most missions would never require it and it probably wouldn't be worth the time or effort (though how much that might be I don't know).

On the other hand, it could take BnZ to a whole new level...I would love to lurk high over the battle waiting for the inevitable downed pilot to bail, then come in at 800kph and snap his chute lol.

Kind of like that old civil war movie where an evil guy would walk around shooting the wounded on both sides, whistling an erie tune the whole time http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you wait until the last minute to do something, it will only take a minute to do it!

This has GOT to be one of the most STUPID request's I have EVER heard. This is up there with flyable V1 Buzz bombs, and flyable derigibals.

On the plus side, the good reply's makes up for the stupid original post http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Speaking of which, what's the name of that Westland Lysander/Avro Lancaster hybrid?

I wonder if that'll be in the expansion?

I guess Oleg's probably saving the prestiege models for BoB.

He-111H-8

I was hoping to try this . I consider it no more then having a tank with mine clearing, bridge laying or flamethower setups.

As the game starts to lean toward the ETO. The stlye of combat will change.
Attacking a bridgehead or convoy this plane Might be of some use taking out barrage balloons..
There must have been a need fore planes were converted.

As to attacking single pilots in chutes; I had not even thought about ithttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. I was hoping to get whole bomber (4 engine)crews. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Without the problem of chutes taking down the planes. Both pilot & gunners would have a grand old time.

OOhh Gibbage: I can't believe you are rubbishing flying dirigibles: and no I'm not talking about the hindenberg, or something daft like that. try these quotes:

"People who served in LTA rightfully boast of their aircraft's dependability. Airships assigned to fleet units were 87 percent available "on line" at all times. 35,6000 operational flights were made in the Atlantic and 20,300 in the Pacific, for a total of 5550,000 hours in the air escorting 89,000 ships loads with troops, equipment and supplies. Additional hours were flown by utility squadrons using K-ships and G-ships providing photographic calibration and torpedo recovery services."

" LTA records reflect only one airship lost through enemy action. This loss was the night of 18 July 1943 when K-74 was advised that no enemy sub was in her assigned patrol area. However, K-74 detected a sub by radar and engaged it on the surface in the Caribbean. A gun duel briefly silenced the German fire, but the airship's bombs failed to release while over the U-boat, where upon she was brought down by the submarine's gunfire. K-74 floated for hours and all the crew but one were picked up the next day."

You've got a variety of interesting gameplay possibilities here: radar, ship escort, bombs, defensive gunnery, and 'in flight refuelling' (they used to lower a hose to a re-supply boat and suck up fuel).

And given some of the 'fantasy planes' that are in game or coming, that flew in 'numbers few', check out those operational statistics above. There were 5 wings (15 squadrons total) with between 8 and 12 balloons per squadron. For more details, try this site: http://www.bluejacket.com/usn_ww2_blimps.html

Don't diss the blimp: outrageous endurance, minimal fuel consumption, near silent movement and excellence as an observation platform: I think it could add some very interesting gameplay options. (and is no less weirdo than that TB3 with fighters under the wings, or the mistel...)

Would be great to down afew.

There is a need to quickly get rid of bomber crews that bail out.
