Game saves are in different location other than the installation folder, so reinstalling the game wont harm your saves. if they are damaged then you can nothing about it, unless if you have sync saves option in Uplay on. if that is the case, delete your saves and launch uplay, the saves will be downloaded again.

well i deleted saves too
C:/program files(x86)/Users/UsersName/ubisoft/ubisoft game launcher/savegames
but
I backuped those saves
I can't somehow get it working by pasting the files somewhere?

looks like backup doesn't solve this issue, any updates on how to fix this?

There is no such folder existed for Ubi to put saves in, if you are referring to

C:\Users\UsersName\ubisoft\ubisoft game launcher\savegames

it is no longer used since ACR first patch, it was used in ACR first release then ubi changed it to a different location with the first patch.

the correct folder for saves if you installed uplay in the default location is:

64 bit windows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\[SOME CODE WITH NUMBERS AND LETTERS]\54

32 bit windows:
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\[SOME CODE WITH NUMBERS AND LETTERS]\54

so if you took a backup, it should be got from the path i described above, if thats the case, just paste your saves there and the game should load them up. However, saves are encrypted per user, meaning you cant use any other saves and load it except yours, the [SOME CODE WITH NUMBERS AND LETTERS] in the path is the encryption code for your account, and also saves are related to that encryption. 54 is the game number which is in this case AC3, ACR is 40, Far Cry 3 is 53 and so on, so every Ubisoft game has a number and all of your Ubi games' saves will go to this path with different numbers

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\[SOME CODE WITH NUMBERS AND LETTERS]\

So its good to backup this folder from time to time so you can restore it again if something happened with your saves and check Sync saves with the cloud in Uplay settings.

Hi everyone . I know I am replying to this thread a little late but still . I am a 13 year old girl and I started playing AC a few months ago when recommended by my friend . I didn't know it was so important to take backup , so I damaged my save game twice , and both the times I fixed it . It is really easy actually . You need to go to
ProgramFiles(X86)
Ubisoft
UbisoftGameLauncher
savegames
---
When you open "savegames" , take backup and then delete all the files there . Open the game , and you will see that your Damaged Save Games has now been deleted . Start a new game , with the same name as your previous one , and exit the game . Open
savegames
(Some combination of letters and numbers)
103
---
Delete all the files (or whatever you call it) there . Then copy the files you had taken backup of with the same name as the files you just deleted and paste them in place of the deleted files .
Open your game and bingo ! It is fixed !
Thank you for reading this and I sure hope this helps . :)
