I have discovered a serious problem with the TB-3. It doesn't do a hammerhead well at all!! With that big tail it should be able to do one without problem. Perhaps the engines are undermodeled.

discuss!

I have no problems doing hammer heads when I fly the TB3. It must be the pilot.

The only problem i have with TB3 is that everyone in the crew dies in a pile if they bale from a nosed over (pilots monument) TB3. Could it be a fall from... say 4 meters http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

Sorry, not as well-disguised as your last effort crash. Then again... one can't over-estimate the intelligence of this board's denizens. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Heheh.
Reminds me about the time I caught a volksjaeger on fire, did a quick belly landing, then noticed that the engine was still on, and on fire. So I hit the key to bail out. canopy pops out. a second passes, then the pilot and seat shoot about 10 feet into the air. I had forgotten about the ejection seat! Anyway, My pilot died when he hit the ground...

Hmm.. I've never managed to dirt spike a TB3 without it exploding.. You must be a far better pilot than me! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

What the hell are you talking about?!?!?!

I've done barrel rolls in the TB-3, and I KNOW it is capable of doing hammerheads because I've done that too! Keep trying, and get plenty of altitude. What you need is speed, so dive, then using your speed, kick the rudder immediately after you hit the speed of 100 kph. The plane will pull a very slow hammerhead, easily. ALTITUDE IS CRUCIAL!

you're giving him what he wants

----------------------------

This interview was on Nat'l Public Radio (npr) in mid January.
A female was interviewing Marine Corps General Reinwald
about a Boy Scout visit to his base.
She was told the Boy Scouts were to be taught about guns.
She asked, "But you are equiping them to be violent killers." The General replied,
"Well you're equiped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?"
The radio went silent and the interview ended. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

You forgot to fire off the jetpacks. Do a Ctl-J to do that, gives you extra thrust for about 15 seconds.

Like Boosher said, speed its the critical element. I recommend hitting the WEP in a shallow dive until you reach at least 235kph, pull it up slowly and steadly while setting the prop pitch to a full 100%. As you go vertical, the aircraft will slow quite quickly, even so don't be afraid to use the dive brakes to bring it to a clean upright stall.

(here's the tricky part)

As SOON as you stall, hit CTRL+C to go into the navigator cabin. Using either CTRL+P or ALT+P (depend if you want to fall off left or right) roll the pencil on the table to shift the center of gravity.

Hop back out to the cockpit and enjoy a perfectly executed hammerhead.
