From "Jagdgeschwader 2 'Richthofen'" John Weal, Page 109:

Related by Leutnant Wofgang Fischer flying a Wfr.Gr21 armed Fw190A6 on D-Day.

"For a split-second I seemed to be enveloped in flames. Relieved of the weight of the rockets the machine leaped upwards. Rocovering from the shock, I watched the twin points of light head down toward the target. One exploded on the stern of the ship. The other disappeared in a fountain of water just behind her.

I released the two launch tubes and quickly built up speed in a shallow dive towards the shore and home."

Was the 190 capable of jettisoning the Wfr.Gr21 launch tubes? Could this be keyed to the "jettison droptanks" command?

The WfGr 21 tubes were indeed jettisonable IRL.

Thanks Butch! I guess that can go down as #2455 on the FB "things to do" list. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The tubes were hung on a hook with their center strut, the so called 'blast strut' over which the fuse was laid, and were stabilized with 4 struts.

In emergency the whole devices could be blasted.

What book is this from, seems very detailed and interesting...?

Brought that up already to Oleg a long-long time ago, unfortunately he sais it is not possible to do with 3d engine... it is not preperared for, I guess the rockets are the only "movable" things, the tubes must behave like actual part of aircraft. Well, Oleg didn`t originally thinked sby would want jettisoning the rudder for example. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Maybe an alternate solution could be done, ie. only the rockets generate drag, but otherwise the plane is the same as a clean one, ie. compensating for the fact pilot would likely drop the tubes right after firing the rocket if needed.

"We've got the finest tanks in the world. We just love to see the German Royal Tiger come up on the field".
- Lt. Gen. George S. Patton, Jr. Febuary 1945.

"One day a Tiger Royal got within 150 yards of my tanks and knocked me out. Five of our tanks opened up on him at ranges of 200 to 600 yards and got 5 or 6 hits on the front of the Tiger. They all just glanced off and the Tiger backed off and got away. If we had a tank like that Tiger, we would all be home today."
- SGT. Clyde D. BRUNSON, US Tank Commander, February 1945

Our Messer which art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy moment come. Thy will be done in Earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily Abschuss.
And forgive us our Errors, as We forgive Your Flaws against us. And lead us not into Temptation to dogfight, but deliver us from Those Below : For thine are The Altitude, and The Climbrate, and the MK 108, forever and ever.
Amen.

Not possible with the 3D engine to make rocket tubes jettisonable?

Bullsh**.

If a bomb can be made to leave the plane, so can a "delivery system". It may merely have to be treated as a different kind of object.

Hanfried Shliephake:"Flugzeugbewaffnung" from Motorbuchverlag ISBN: 3879434867.

If knives and box of rocks were used as aircraft armament it's in that book http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
