I have problems with this plane. As soon as I start the engines the plane starts turning to right and when it starts going it's impossible to have it going straight. I have rudderpedals and I can't compensate with them. Should it be like this?

~hey~ jfri

Just tried it (first time since I got the AEP) and I have no trouble at all keeping it straight, and never have if I recall. Tell more about your setup, takeoff procedure, and also other planes you take off in.

Right now I have rudder mapped to mouse buttons and throttle (lol don't ask).

I use CH flight sim yoke and rudder pedals. I have succeded in taking of in other planes. Also flying is no problem. Just take off in the Yak seems impossible. Do you apply left rudder to compensate? How much?

Is it a bad weather mission? If so, it's likely that IL2's version of crosswind modelling is complicating matters immensely.

Which game/patch version is it, IL2 Sturmovik or IL2:Forgotten Battles?

Not as far as I know.

I have Forgotten Battles patched to 1.22.

Well I just flew all the Yak9 variants in 1.22, they all need a fair serve of left rudder, but not so much as to make it uncontrollable. Once you get them off the ground they're a delight http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

No, it shouldn't be like that. Compensate with the rudder.

Most of these old warbirds required nearly full rudder on takeoff. Oleg has nerfed it down to only half rudder, for whatever reason.

There is also a bit of lag between moving the pedals and the control surface actually moving. This effect was created to simulate heavy controls and force it takes to move them, but unfortunately in this case it simply sucks. Oleg's rudder cables are made of bungee cords. Step.... wait... rudder moves... airplane begins to react .... adjust ... wait .... readjust.
