Assassin’s Creed 3 on consoles will have been patched at least twice by the time it hits PC, but the matser race won’t have to wait for these improvements.

In a Reddit AMA thread (http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/134w2f/iama_developer_on_assassins_creed_iii_ask_me/), a number of Ubisoft staff members answered questions about the upcoming PC release and plans for patches.

“Lots of bug fixes incoming. PC release will include the first two patches on release,” creative director Alex Hutchinson confirmed.

Senior community developer Gabe Graziani said the PC version will receive all DLC the console releases have access to. He said the wait for the port is justified because Ubisoft “added a lot more detail to the PC version and support for DX11. Stuff that we didn’t really need to think about for the console versions,” as well as some PC-specific patches.

The next patch is in certification, and is due “really really soon” according to Graziani, with details expected in the next week. Ubisoft has quite a few plans for what to address in upcoming patches; Hutchinson confirmed a future update will allow players to raise Connor’s hood post-ending, for example.

AI and gameplay team lead Aleissia Laidacker said Ubisoft is looking at tweaking the controls for chase missions, as the combination of run and free run into one button can cause headaches.

The AMA is still open and there’s loads more to browse through; hit the link above to check it out.

Assassin’s Creed 3 is out now on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; the Wii U version arrives at console launch; and the PC version is due before the end of the month.

Thanks for the info, I sure hope AC3 will have a lot more post-launch support on all platforms than previous titles.

Seems to me that developers these days are working to a schedule rather than to make a product to sell. How else can you explain bug fixes before product has gone live. When i was writing code Not one mistake was tolerated or the stuff i wrote would not work as intended.

Thank you for the information, man.

Just for clarification though, "Senior community developer Gabe Graziani said the PC version will receive all DLC the console releases have access to." - I'm guessing this just means the regular stuff like Mayan Ruins, Ghost of War, etc. etc.?

This is very good news!!! Thanks for sharing. It also gives me hope that the port to PC will be done properly.

I will say it again: for dx11 and other things like this they had 3 years of development time., That's truth, few weeks delay for adding this is not truth.

Good about both "pre-release" patches will be included at launch and also good news is they have another patch in certification. I hope they will keep it and will release many patches fixing existing and painful bugs. Obviously i support with my money games which have good support in patches and bugfixing.

Anyway, i'm waiting for my pc freedom edition :-) It's so hard to wait with patience ;-)

North America is the 20th - EMEA is the 23rd, some EU is the 22nd..

Best to check with your retailer if you are confused ;)

Will the PC version ship with the patch or should I wait to play it?

They have told us that two patches are included. Thanksgiving patch is second one so it should be included.

Well, I don't think so. This Thanksgiving patch would be patch number 3 according to some online magazines.

So I think the patch has to be installed manually.. IF it comes out for the PC!.

There's been only 1 patch released so far - the first day title update

The 2nd is the Thanksgiving patch.

The PC version of AC3 - will use the Uplay launcher - which will auto install any required patches - when they say the patches will ship with the PC version, they mean it will be ready to install when you install the game.

PC patches are not the same code as console patches - so some work is needed to convert etc - but that is already done ;)

so there is no need to download the patch? thanks :)
