Hello I am snuffly, as you can see. I use to play CFS3 and was known as Snuffle. But I see the name is taken here so i will go by this name.

I just ordered the FB game from ebay, and I would like to get all the info I can on the game. Any information would be usefull.

And I would just like to say hi to all the players of the IL2 games.

Hoping for a reply, thx. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I suggest you start off by patching the game. UBI sends out updates every now and then, adjusting flight models, removing bugs, adding planes and occationaly maps. Best off all, the patches are free!

You can find a link to the relevant patches on the front page.

If your buying FB, I hope you're getting the Gold Pack, with Aces Expansion pack included. There are no plane downloads here like CFS, and the only way to get the later Spits is Ace Pack.

There are DF servers, Coop missions and online wars that are availible online, as well as many campaigns, both included and community provided ( http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif Extreme_One http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif ) offline.

Online games are version based, so you both must have the same version as each other. Most online servers are 2.04, which is FB v1.xx plus ACE Pack and the latest patches for Ace.

If you get Aces, merely install over FB v1.00 and apply Ace 2.01 and 2.04 and you'll be good. Sounds complex, but it's really not.

To get Spitfires you'll need to buy the Ace Expansion Pack. In addition to that, you'll need patches 2.01 and 2.04, links for download mirror sites can be found on the game updates page of the main site. 3DGamers usually provide the best download performance, on their page the required patches can be found under the "Files for Mission Packs" heading.

To fly online you need to have exactly the same patch version as other players. Currently pretty much everyone is flying the 2.04 version, so you'll need the expansion pack plus those two patches to fly online.

Online play comes in two primary modes, dogfight (2 - 16 teams) which allow respawn, or Cooperative, which fly a single cooperative mission and don't allow respawn.
To add further variety, a community developed tool called FBDaemon is used by many dogfight server hosts. This tool allows hosts to set cooperative style goals in DF servers.

Missions from previous versions can be flown in the current version, but all players participating must be at the same version as the host.

One last thing, you may want to have a look at the first post in the "Official signature testing thread" stickied near the top of the forum, it contains limits for signature picture sizes and yours is bit large http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

Basically what everyone else already said is true. You gotta get the expansion and the patches to unlock all the planes and play on just about any online server. You will not find any downloadable aircraft because they are hard coded and can't be changed, modded, or added without the direct input of the development team. In other words, you have to hope that the plane you want but can't have shows up in a patch or expansion. This is to prevent cheating online and ensure that everyone is on a level playing field, not to mention that it makes the planeset as realistic as possible (or, at least as real as Oleg wants it to be http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

That isn't to say there aren't all sorts of wonderful things to download for IL2. You will probably want to customize the look of your planes, in which case http://www.il2skins.com/ is the place to be! There's also comprehensive mods on this forum for changing the markings and other minor details.

Maps are also only included by the dev team, but you can create all sorts of missions and campaigns using the FMB packaged with the game. It's actually really easy to get really big and cool missions going. Just add in some flights, some waypoints, supply whatever you want on the ground, and there you have it. There's even a whole forum just for that feature, the Mission Builder forum at http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=frm&s=400102&f=50910533

Welcome Snuffly - hmmm

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/34.gif It says "Snuffle" in the sig...

LOL

AEP V2.04 (the current version) has Spitfires.
You must have exactly the same version to play together (1.2 for IL-2 Sturmovik, and 1.22 for FB, and 2.04 for FB + AEP).

Question: Did you back-up your files?
Answer: I didn't know they had a reverse...

Yup...AEP plus 2.01 and then 2.04 patches (in that order).

Gives you the Spitfire Mark Vb, Mark Vb LF (cropped supercharger for better low alt performance), Mark IXc LF, Mark IXe LF, and Mark IXe HF. All come with clipped wing versions too (except the HF of course).

Maybe even a couple more by the end http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Lots of others too...tons of 109s, 190's, and plenty of Russian planes you will get to know http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
