I heard that you wouldn't be able to, but the source wasn't verified so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there is stuff to do underwater.

BTW does anyone think you'll be able to go fishing in this game, it might be a fun feature.

It was in one of the gameplay videos. Connor was talking to his native friend and then later in the video dove into the water. Looks the same as the previous games.

As far as i can tell. Swimming will function mostly the same as in the past games and the whole underwater thing is a Liberation feature. I could be wrong though.

As for fishing? I don't think so :p.

Diving into water and diving when in water are two different things.

You could Dive into water in any of the previous AC games aside from the first. There was never a way to actually dive when in water.

The only option available was to basically hide just under the surface of the water.

Why? Maybe he's right handed? Or ambidexterous.

Ambidextrous I'd say. He is a “dual wielding specialist.”

Why would there be fishing?

XD

Maybe we might find one of those guys fishing by the water or something like previous AC games but fishing is pretty worthless...Even to earn some sort of income.

That'd make Connor look like a part-time Fisher/Assassin joke

I swear I've ether read or seen somewhere (achievements list maybe?) that fishing is in fact included. I think it'd be decent, and at the very least a good spot to run into bears (think I recall a video with Connor swimming by a bear at the ledge of the water, was it fishing?)

It might well come up as part of the hunting thing, though probably not taking as long as real life.

Plus I think we did see a video somewhere that had a brief shot of Connor underwater.

When I heard fishing, I was more thinking of the spear fishing variety, and not just Connor sitting in a kayak with a rod over the ledge while he sucks down a six pack.

Doesn't make sense to me.

i hope i'm wrong because it would be a cool thing to have in AC3. I just somehow don't think it will be there the way everybody would like :(.

Why would that be in a handheld game and not a REAL GAME?!

Maybe only certain areas.

For example, not in the ocean or in the frontier but only in a few "exotic" missions where we have to dive into an underwater cave or something.
Would make a lot more sense instead of leaving the mechanic out completely.

The same way Aveline can use her rope to swing from things and Connor can't. They give the games their own features :p.

I still think it would be a missed opportunity if they leave underwater swimming ability out of AC3 with all these vast waters. Especially because the mechanic is basically there.

Yeah but I don't see Connor being Catwoman anyway. Character specific moves makes sense, but diving underwater doesn't make sense to only allow one character to do so.
