View Full Version : Are you gunning for 100% completiton on your first playthrough of AC3?

For myself, I tend to find it easier to get 100% completion by starting a new game and doing everything as I go. This saves the hassle of having to load individual memories to get full synch, trying to figure out which collectables you have got already and which you missed, etc etc..

However I think that for the first playthrough of AC3, I will not quest for 100%, rather just play the game purely for enjoyment and doing things as I see fit. I love 100% hunting but I think the best way to experience all the fresh new content is to not "limit" yourself by certain objectives, and to not "work" instead of play (forcing yourself to grab collectables before moving on etc)

Again, I love doing the whole systematic collectable / full synch stuff, but I think the first playthrough is better if you do it at your own, random, disorganised leisure, and playing through missions in whatever creative / fun way you can think of.

I think immediately after my first playthrough I will start again and go for the big hundy, but I expect to drag out my first playthrough for a while (IE I am not going to rush at all)

I apologise for my overly frequent use of "etc", a bad habit lately...

There isn't any 100% sync, there is only sync points now. Which help u buy skins and artwork.

In games like this* I typically go through the game's storyline first to get a feel of what I'm suppose to do in the story and understand the characters, setting, and gameplay. Then once I get the story complete...

Deleted. All remnants of my first playthrough are gone, forever. I delete it and then start over, but this time I try to get as much % as I can... unfortunately, Red Dead is the only game I ever got 100%.

*Red Dead Redemption, AC2, AC Bro, AC Rev, any RPG, etc)

I always go for 100% completion of the optional synch objectives on my first playthrough of the previous AC games. So Yes. :P

Actual 100% completion in collectibles and everything.. no. :P

I'm actually starting to play through Assassin's Creed 1, with the goal of getting all of the flags and the templars without using online maps, and then I'll move on to AC2 and I'll 100% that, and then I'll move onto ACB, then ACR, then I'll finally play Assassin's Creed 3 and 100% it.

So essentially, while doing that I'll also be playing Guild Wars 2 and ACR/AC3 MP, while avoiding all AC forums and all AC news.

Well let's say maximising synch points then :) There are a few optional objectives per mission, and if you get all of them that counts towards your completion % I imagine. So basically I mean are you going to try to 100% complete the game on your first playthrough. Thanks for your input though, and I hope we can buy more than just skins and artwork :)

This sounds like me, though I don't usually outright delete my first playthrough, just in case there's something you can only access towards the end that I want to be able to do every now and again just for shigz (Eg parachuting in Brotherhood)

Ahh nice! I will probably go for some of them, I just don't want to limit myself too much by following guidelines, I will probably spend as much time as possible hanging people from trees ;P

That's an incredibly noble and admirable quest :) I wouldn't dare try to get all the flags in AC1 without online maps... Would take too much time from AC3 ;)

Thus far I only ever 100% Brotherhood, and in all honesty, there were still 3 flags left in one of the Romulus Lairs that I never got round to grabbing... I think it said 100% because I had those 2 additional missions (and 100% them of course)

I hope you are correct. I hope to purchase special designed weapons as well.

No, I generally want to get through the games story first, and then I might do it afterward if I really like the game.

Definately! I understand not having armour, but I want to be able to purchase customization for Connor's outfit (I actually think he looks incredible as is, but would be awesome to mix it up) and yeah things like weapons (customization or upgrades) maybe unique clothing that grants certain benefits (Boots which reduce slowdown in heavy snow, gloves which increase climbing speed, gloves that increase hand to hand combat damage, maybe some sort of vambraces type thing which helps with shooting the bow and arrow, and so on)

I imagine there will be at the very least, the usual upgrades to ammo capacity

(in fact SPOILER ------------ One of the Uplay rewards is a capacity upgrade, like the one in Revelations. Not sure of the specifics but I imagine it will be more ammo for gun / rope dart / more arrows)

It looks like most of our money will be used with upgrading our homestead or doing some sort of renovation equivilent to the previous games. Which is cool with me, Ubisoft know how important customization and having things to spend money on is, I'm sure they will have plenty for us to waste away our hard earned

The homestead, weapons, and thing we have forgotten that we might customize, our dear ship.

Haha yeah that would be awesome.

On a side note, I hope we can use those little paddling canoe boats again, I quite enjoyed them. There are steams and rivers in the Fronteir so it would make a nice alternative way to cruise around. Maybe not so good for the open seas though haha

Oh man my sea sickness is kicking in thinking about a paddle boat in open sea. I wonder due to whale hunting being big at the time will harpoons make it in.

Hahaha! I doubt whaling will be in, except for a possible cutscene. Might be a bit too much trouble to program / animate whales and introduce mechanics to enable whaling, though the game is something like 15GB so who knows!

I did read today about a new thing which sounds really cool,

MINOR GAMEPLAY RELATED SPOILER ALERT

You can apparently ambush Templar caravans, and I believe there are missions where you have to protect or escort caravans too. Sounds awesome, can't wait to raid some Templar loot haha.

Not the whaling, I don't want PETA knocking down my door, I just want harpoon shot from my cannons.

I thought I read / heard that upgrading your homestead is a big part of the game, probably like Monteriggioni in AC2 except I imagine it will be more customization and addition/upgrading rather than renovating.

I've platinum'd AC2 and ACR, so I'm determined to platinum AC3. Only TWO trophies stand between me and the platinum trophy in ACB, "get all co-op bonuses" and "get every bonus at least once" bloody multiplayer

That's insane.. This time next year I might have joined the Platinum club. After a few months of AC3 I will go back and do each one 100%. Feels good to have every main game in the series :D

Agreed, I meant renovations in the AC sense. I don't imagine we will be fixing up blacksmiths and banks so much.

No, like with the other AC games I will go for 100% on my second playthrough. I'll still check out a lot of the side content on my first run through the game but I like to leave some stuff so that I have some extra missions etc to do the second time round that I didn't complete on my first playthrough.

100% is always my intent, especially with side missions & whatnot, even collecting feathers/animus fragments. But it never ends up happening.

I always tell myself after I beat the game I'll still go around to collect the rest, but once the storyline's finished I never really do it. Seems like this one has 100 times the replayability than previous AC games though, so maybe this will be the time.

Yeah, one of the trophies in AC3 (spoilers) requires you to achieve 100% synch, so I'll be determined to do that on my first try. Obviously I'm gonna replay the whole game regardless, because it looks so darn awesome :D

dxsxhxcx
10-18-2012, 12:04 AM
no, and I probably won't do it on my next playthroughs, maybe a few 100% sync requirements if they are fun and something that'll unlock new memories/skins/etc... I don't care about pointless achievements...

AnthonyA85
10-18-2012, 12:15 AM
I will TRY to 100% sync it, but any missions that have timed full-sync requirements such as "complete level in so many minutes", or "do not take any damage" while fighting my way through masses of guards, i just won't bother trying to full sync them.

Krayus Korianis
10-18-2012, 12:25 AM
I find it easier to just go back and do individual memories and other things...

Alpha_SOLDIER_X
10-18-2012, 04:55 AM
I don't believe 100% sync is possible in one play through, as the Sync points are based on your chosen style of play, If you want to do a mission stealthily, you will have a certain set of sync points.

Locopells
10-18-2012, 09:07 AM
I like to do alt playthrough in my style after i've done the 100% and the replay doesn't affect anything.
