looks good .. pretty comprehensive !!

not sure if its relevant but under sound you might mention the bug with cards like the SB audigy that can be temporarily fixed by going into sound settings and hitting apply without changing anything once you are in the cockpit

I'll ask Audigy people about that one, thanks. Hey Abbit! The reason why I named the guide as such is because there are two types of players out there when you boil it down to the bone.

Complete Users who know that commands and command codes run the computer and that they are a casual observer of the results at best.

Those who delude themselves into thinking they are in charge of their computer. That's kinda like a man who thinks he's got control over women; a completely delusional state of mind!

As a result, one crowd sees the title and goes, "That's me man"! They benefit and rack up kills.

The other crowd sneers at it and decides to give it a pass. For them, I just smile and wave as their plane goes down in flames! I love smart people! They are so easy to beat in this game! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Thanks LB. I'll be having a look as I know the previous version was a lot of help to me. Apart from security dabbling, the only real system fiddling I do is for this game so your guide is spot on.

Thnx LB...I always forget what tweaks I have done so a few reminders is great.

Sometime I feel like i need an complete idiots guide with numbers from 1-10 on what to do, how and why.

1. Move right hand to keyboard
2. Type on keyboard
3. read results
4. understand results..................

.........and so on.

Okay, okay...I finally bookmarked it. Good stuff LB.

Whenever I have a friend that expresses legitimate interest in getting started with FB and getting set up correctly, I always had to search the threads for a link thinking I wouldn't use it very much.

It took me a while to figure out that the guide is not for everyone. At first, I wrote it up as a "for my squad's eyes only" type thing at first. Problem was, the guys in that squad (which thankfully I'm not part of it anymore) were much too smart to take any of the advice from the guide to heart. This was in spite of the fact that most of the ideas don't come from me directly. They are actual, real world solutions to real world problems solved by others long before I ever showed up around here. Even now, there's some schmuck posting over in the Community Help forum about how he's got cable internet service and he's "seen" the guide and still has 1,200 pings and gets kicked from games. Do you think he's really got all the background nonsense shut off and the spyware handled? Going, "yeah, yeah, yeah, I already know all that" won't get the job done. Who amoung us hasn't forgotten to do some of these things that we take for granted after a re-install of the game or a reformat job?

McDonold's (you know, the mystery meat people) are very carefull about who they sell a franchise to. A college grad type friend of mine was upset because he lost out on a prime location (well, if you're going to have mystery meat, you might as well try to make up for it with location, location, location) to a couple of failed farmers. After all, he had a marketing degree in food management and knew what he was doing. McDonold's knows something he doesn't. They know that the farmers are smart enough, to be dumb enough, to do it the way that sold zillions of burgers successfully in the past and will continue to do so in the future. The college grad on the other hand will have all sorts of ideas and beleif systems to protect regardless of what 60 years has taught McDonalds. Be like the farmer and read the guide, not because I have 60 years experience, but because it represents just about that in others tried and proven methods.
