All of the trailers shown of AC3 have said pegi 18. However all the other past AC games have also said 18 and then to be released as a 16.
Do you know if this game an 18 or a 16? If 18 why so?

Apparently all European countries have to use the PEGI system now. So, under the BBFC, it probably would have been 15/16, but from now on we're using PEGI too and AC3 is an 18.

It could matter to customers who are just under 18, and also if you're thinking of buying Christmas presents. I was thinking of buying AC3 for my nephew, but since it's an 18 now I won't be doing that. Maybe I'll get him the old ones instead.

Sorry, but... Why does it matter ?

I turned 16 this year so I can now buy it without having to ask a stranger for help (my parents won't help me because they don't like me playing games)

Had you taken just 2 minutes of your time to read the rest of the replies, you wouldn't have taken Unnecessary 5 seconds of your time to make this post..

No you can't (or at least, not legally). Like I said, BBFC no longer gives classification to games, only film/TV. Now the PEGI system applies to us all in Europe.

Also I may add that it has an USK 16 rating in Germany because we dont use PEGI and the other rating systems.

Yes, when BBFC was doing the ratings for games. The government has now made it a legal requirement for PEGI to take over that aspect. PEGI rated Revelations, Brotherhood ect an 18. Assassins Creed 3 will legally be a PEGI game and seeing how they've already decided its an 18 thats what Britain is getting.

Generally, all games in Europe are rated by Pegi, but in the UK, BBFC's rating was officially used, so all ACs were 15. But recently it was decided that BBFC would no longer rate games because it was confusing to have more than one rating. Pegi solely classify games in the UK now, so AC3 will be an 18 (although it would've been a 15 if BBFC was still used)

Just to back up Esco's statement, it is an 18 ;P

Don't get these different rating boards though :| Rate them the same! *shakes fist*

Luckily one of my local GAME stores is usually run by 2 young guys who don't really care enough to ID me, so when I preordered it last week it was fine (To be fair, I look 18)

Not all European countries.
We have the USK here in Germany and it is an 16.

I wouldn't be going around saying things like that lol.. Selling to an underage is an offence and can get GAME a fairly hefty fine for doing so.

Age restrictons are in place for a reason. Besides, the event I went to at GAME in Newcastle was behind closed doors because they weren't allowed to display it through the age ratings.

I haven't had to worry about age restrictions for quite some time now, being 63...

I wish parents didn't but games based on what age restrictions. It has nothing to do with the age, but the maturity.

It is 18 in the UK. Saw it myself. Maybe you could ask one of your parents to pick it up for you?

It's rated 18 by PEGI.

So it will release as a 18.

Amazon do have their Join or Die edition listed as a 12 in the product details section for some reason, I took a screenshot:

Seeing as PEGI is the law in the UK now, there is technically no such thing as a BBFC rating for games anymore.
