Longest here was 9 missions, in a Fw-190, only 1 kill though(fullreal in a FW, forget deflection shooting...), and i behaved sorta cowardly http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
And yes, i do restart, although its a pest!

After like 10 missions I start to make mistakes. Often I ram into other planes in AA or into the ground in AG-missions when I get too entusiastic about my skills... (Bf109 campaign)

And I always restart campaigns after dying!
Feels better if you get medals or promotions when you know you can die!

Best Ive done so far is 3 kills in 5 missions and then I ran into a Stuka. Yes I restart after a death also.

It would be quite nice to have an option to restart the game automatically in the menu section as so many of us start all over again when killed.
I know its not a great deal of hastle to actually do it yourself manually, but it worked well in Mirrorsofts '1942'. I remember that feeling of having pre flight nerves like in real life that helped to set the mood/theme which was excellent. I knew that I couldn't make a mistake otherwise I would begin all over again. It also helped me to think and to plan an attack if I could, rather than to simply going in for a kill, guns blazing without a care in the world, not realising that the other fellows wingman had got onto my six!! Shame they couldn't of done this in IL2 FB!!! Hey, Hoy Nevermind, we can't have everything.

A nice new feature would be if you could continue the campaign after being killed as a new recruit. All kills and missions accomplished etc. deleted but still the same sqadron and the next mission in campaign.

2 missions with 3 kills http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I just started to restart after I die but it gives it even more realism!

Six missions with four kills, in the Finnish Gulf of Finland/Leningrad Campaign in the Brewster, 1941.

My other highest was nine missions, three kills, Stalingrad campgain, in a MiG-3.

I think my best was 10 missions 10 kills 1 promotion 1 award. Including one mission with a I16 killed and 3 bombers. I only attacked the bombers from the distance until they started smoking. they all crashed before landing!

This pilot was killed while waiting for takeoff by a strafing ac. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I can't believe you're restarting the whole carreer! What's the point?!? That way you never get to finish the whole war. I play from day one, on through all the campaigns , right till the end. With the same character. I sure die a lot, but what the hey, just press the refly button and be more carfeul next time.

To see the end of the war I could just start one of the late scenarios. I like the early planes anyway so I mostly start from the Beginning. The nice random mission generator keeps it interesting.

Like this it just feels better. I fly more concentrated. Makes the flying a little more comparable with how it must have been...

BTW I hate replaying the same mission over and over again!

I'm concentrated as well as I hate playing same mission over and over. But it really feels like an accomplishment to play through all the campaigns and try to best the real pilots with the kill score.

It gives a person a sense of appreciation for the people that flew these crates for real. How did any of them return home alive???!
