You know...i was alwas wondering going thru all kinds of garbige on this forums...why? Why people do that? Why people dump they little pathetic whines and silly accusations into rather educational and civilized discussions and feel good about themselfs? I`m offen wondering if they ever realize that they are nothing but laughing stuck... Today was rather tiring and frustrating. So many topis and even threads deleted and locked or moved to mods forum... but what`s the outcome of all this? Who`s loss is this? I can answer this one for you.... Our loss. Some messages were not delivered or maybe even answered, all because of "some" of you, who is trying to compencate personal weakness behind the joystick with "big words" behind the keyboard... in this forum. Pity you...

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

The problem with an illogic is that by definition it defies a logical explanation.

Sometimes your better off not asking why. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

This forum is a lot more readable since you've taken over. And it also seems a lot more productive. Thank you for keeping the place cleaned up for us.

Yes. Not only does Ivan do a great job of weeding out the dumb stuff, but he keeps a level head and an objective point of view. That's got to be tough sometimes, but he pulls it off. S!

I agree. The example yesterday of the Poster `Baroness`, who posted a long diatribe of meeting a real Spitfire pilot and his `true` recollections of how crap all alied planes where versus Axis. A complete and total lie as the actual said pilot doesn`t exist. Thnx to Cappadocian and the other guy (with the Hurri sig) for finding that one. That kind of situation really brings down the forum....

It`s just wanton behaviour, some jerks find it fun to vandalise a young tree that`s harming no-one just because it`s there and they can do it. And some are trying to make things hard for Crazy Ivan because he`s actually using the stick against idiot posters who find it too hard to be courteous in what they write.

Ivan, the logic is simple in the extreme.

As you point out, non-aces want to think they are.

Also and much worse are people with agendas to see every sim they can be molded to what they think is right and will do anything to achieve that end.

How do you judge when a search for answers is legitimate or not? Or is it just when it becomes whining or obvious manipulation that you stop the thread? Man, I do not envy you!

After giving your post some thought... here is something to think about:

Feelings of pessimism and general negativity are often the product of being in a situation that you dislike, yet feel powerless to change....now whether you are truly powerless is a whole separate thing.

What we have is a closed architecture game, by design, and developments that occur, are very nice but happen rather slowly compared to other sims like CFS 2 and 3. I see folks "whining" and debating in an effort to lobby Oleg cause they can't just change it...hence the feelings of negativity and pessimism. The online experience perpetuates that most of all because your not competing against a computer but against mostly very good pilots...and there, the plane does count for alot.

The most interesting thing to watch is the way folks pit facts and data against each other...there is soo much conflicting data on aircraft performance not to mention all the written stuff of a more abstract nature.... people are just trying to sort out the contradictions and get rather passionate and emotional about it at times. Most people that are given to rational thought and reflection have a real difficult time dealing with contradictions. So is the search for an objective reality and a game that will simulate it closely.

I find the debate and dialogue interesting overall but not the personal attacks and insults. I figure as long as there are public forums and FB is a closed architecture game, people will try to sway Oleg to model their favorite planes the way they have read they should be modelled... I know I will ! I just prefer the rational over the emotional...

The question I have to ask is why do we get so emotional about this simulator????

Crazyivan,

Critical evaluation can be difficult to take especially when it rings true. When someone has formed a perspective it can be distressing to realize error in judgement and a failure in understanding. Such things can bruise a persons ego.
When these critical realizations are not discovered personally; when someone else communicates an error then the normal reaction is to 'shoot the messenger'.
It takes a degree of discipline to fight that urge to defend one's own self image and to take criticism strictly upon the value of the information.

For example:

I am going to critique your post.

You ask a question:
"Can someone explain something to me?"

Then is it true that you answer your own question?:
"compencate personal weakness behind the joystick..."

Then do you discourage any replies to the topic question?:
"Nuff said"

My example is meant to illustrate a point:

Why I think people resort to insults.

We are all sensitive http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Being called a pethetic whiner can evoke responses in kind.

Moderators jobs are one thing if the job is a simple case of enforcing rules.

Subjective interpretation of the rules can make things more difficult.

Vested interest can make things even more difficult.

My guess is that it is uncommon to find a good moderator.

I hope you continue to do an outstanding job enforcing the rules.

We are all capable of censorship.

It is our choice to seek out these pages and read the words.

Great post Bulldog. You hit the nail on the head.

However, there's no sense in asking "why." Why do people start fights at soccer games? Because humans get excited about things that they are passionate about. Oleg has a tough job trying to please everyone, but everyone has a right to voice their views on things. Of course they shouldn't get nasty, but there are all kinds in this world.

Josf, with all due respect bud... don't forget to quote this: "Why people dump they little pathetic whines and silly accusations into rather educational and civilized discussions and feel good about themselfs" This is it...all i really wanted to say...and everything else doesn`t matter.

I am not only a mod here, i am thankful reader too... there are quiet a few educated on all levels people here and to me they are valuable source and i appriciate everything that they do. In the same time, right in the middle of all the "goodies" something really pathetic and whiny pops up and it just painfull to watch... then more and more of it...and there it goes down a drain, perfectly started thread. That`s what bothers me the most mate.

But your critique it taken. Well put http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I don`t chose words wisely at 4am..ya know hehe.

I feel for you, Ivan.

I can only imagine how frustrating it is having to read all the whining/flaming posts and deal with them accordingly.

The worst effect of posts like that is it drives decent people away from the forums.

You ever get insulted of bias for simply asking whether a certain feature was modeled into a plane?

I have. It really is sickening like you said and I rarely read the forums as much as I used to because of it.

I will agree with the others you do a good job moderating. You're patience amazes me. I can't say I envy your job, though. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

Perhaps you are taking this to personal.
If your conscience is clean you can just neglect it.

Make some constructive of all the negativism.
Make some money, start a fighter school and invite all whiners. They can pay per lesson.
You write a lot about your experience and if you are so good as I think you are, I would be greatful if you learnt me some tricks.

I have often wondered the same thing myself. Watching a civil and enlightening thread go by the wayside because of some idiots ranting or theories always makes me wonder about the purity of the genepool in the world today. But Ivan you are doing a very good job, poor Tully has been over-whelmed for quite some time. And it's nice to see some humor coming again from the mods.

No zug, i am not taking it all personal, i am just stating obvious. And i am not THAT good to open school hehe. But you can always join our COOPs on fridays and see what for example P-38 or P-47 can do when Korolov is flying it... or what FW190 is capable of when JV44 behind the wheel.. it`s something i base my opinions on. If they can do it... i think we all can. Also i must mention one more thing... the world championship was won on G6/AS, Not La7 or Yak3 or Ki84... Pure german built and recreated by Maddox G6/AS. See my point? It`s a pilot after all.

From what I read, a G6/AS turn fighting down low full power and landing flaps down once the fight went into turns. Why is that the best way to fight?
