S!

I have a AMD XP1600, with 768mb ram and an ATI9700 non pro.
What would you think are the best video settings at the il2setup/video/custom?

I don't know much so your help will be highly appreciated!

I use the following settings with my R9700 (np) 4 x FSAA, 16 x Anisotropic:

Mode: OpenGL
Res.: 1152 x 864 x 32
Tex. Mipmap filter: Anisotropic
Tex. Compression: S3TC
Dithering: checked
Vertex Arrays: checked
Polygon Stipple: checked
Clip Hint: unchecked
Palette: unchecked
Everything else checked.

Texture compression and mipmap filter settings do have the biggest impact on performance.

============================
When it comes to testing new aircraft or determining maximum performance, pilots like to talk about "pushing the envelope." They're talking about a two dimensional model: the bottom is zero altitude, the ground; the left is zero speed; the top is max altitude; and the right, maximum velocity, of course. So, the pilots are pushing that upper-right-hand corner of the envelope. What everybody tries not to dwell on is that that's where the postage gets canceled, too.

Thanks!

What do all these settings do?
I was always wondering...
