Well I was gona post this in AsH's patent troll trap but I thought It was a little to off topic even for there so :-

I wonder has Oleg ever considered giving up the Combat flight simulator market? WHAT !! ARE YOU NUTS WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!!

Well I dunno Its like this I guess:-

Seems the guy and his team have more than enough skills to produce a purely flight orientated simulator to a far better standard than those that already exist ?

And I bet they would be subject to far less bile than they currently get (flight sims being more of a passive kinda thang generally )

I ask because there seems to be nothing here but talk of immersion / realism etc etc and these simply do not seem to be adequately catered for in this GAME based on the opinions of a lot of folk here at least.

Ask yourself:-

When was the last time you flew in a dogfight server / coop mission and had a chance to go :-

Ohhh you know the bend in that river there is realy spectacular.

Or gee the weather here is terrible?

or I say that house down there would make a fine retirement home for me and the kiddies.

Sure now and then we get the odd post about some cool feature that some one has just noticed because for once they actually pulled their head away from the gunsight and stopped hating for two seconds in order to look around at the world Oleg and his team have created for us and go WOW.

So come on people lets leave off the endless 'Dear Oleg' threads and the 'why didn't you do it this way?' stuff for ten minits and thank Oleg and his happy little mudman army for making truely wonderful product here?

which for a bunch of tuppeny arcade jokey's is probably more than we deserve anyhow.

Its time we all sat back and smelt the roses a little folks as the only real option we have to this is microshaft and photocrapalistic scenerey.

Hmm now that I read this I think I have lost my point somewhere along the way. I guess what I am really saying is be thankful for what you have cos it could be a hella lot worse if BILL was in charge.

So what is it gona be ? Flight sim or Combat flight sim?

Food for thought I guess who knows

bye

I have no complaints... never have.. even when the Jug flew like a UPS truck and the 50 cals were like BB guns. A few criticisims sure.. but this sim is a work of art... a masterpiece that has redefined the standard by which all future flight sims will be measured. The only thing it lacks IMO.. or not the only thing.. but a major thing.. is bigger maps with the same level of detail and a bit more UMPH in the FMB.. like triggers.. and the ability to redefine the default skins. I didnt have to learn to love it.. I enjoyed it from the first 15 minutes of flying in IL2 and havent looked back since....

I certainly appreciate this sim. The only complaint (if it could be called that) I've ever had was that I thought it should have been limited to an Eastern Front sim. Don't get me wrong. I love British and American planes. But I think had the sim been limited to the EF it would have made the developers' jobs easier and any patches would have been developed to further refine the FMs, ballistics and DMs of a smaller number of aircraft.

The sad thing is that wouldn't have been enough to bring the sim into the larger market that it is in now.
When IL2 (the original) came out it was a landmark in combat sim evolution. And yet for all it's incredible attributes there were still people out there asking: "Where's the Mustang? Where's the Spit?" Oh well.

I hope Oleg doesn't give up. But Im not suprised if he's pissed of or disheartened by the constant whining from these forums.

Bearcat, its always nice to read your posts, your always positive and look for the best in this sim. I wish that there were more IL2:FB players with the same attitude rather than people always picking it apart and pointing out there percieved errors.

Quickmission, moscow, 6pm, any plane...looks sweet with the graphics cranked up to the full. Or a quick fly around the mountains on the crimean map at dusk or dawn. I do this regularly to remind just how great this sim looks and feels. Shame its never online apart from co-ops with the rest of the wolfers I play IL2 with.

This is BS.Those guys who think that Oleg or his team colegues watch all this and as a result think about not creating another great sim because of us b!tching is BS.

Buy a copy, buy two or 10 or more,Oleg and his team will be very happy and certainly make new plans how to expand the sim.

If the point is 'step back a second and watch at the sim as a whole' then it`s good.Keep buying Oleg`s sims - that`s the best help there is!We all may contribute to flourishing of FB+AEP.

My point is I agree with you but you must understand ppl. Most of us want to exploit their planes` real life advantages and develop realistic tactics that would actually be effective.

Or think about something else - some ppl actually play this game seriously. No,I`m not talking about wanting to boost own ego by a comp game - anyone with this objective should go outside some more.Ppl read books, manuals, charts,do tests, practice hours in their planes but it doesn`t work - D@MMIT this is not right!

So to sum it all up,as long as you buy the game(support Oleg financially and pay him for his hard work) and you see flaws that REALLY ARE flaws then you can ***** about it - what in my opinion has only good influence of the sim`s evolution.

My major complain is that I have too little time to play or model for this game. You many here are getting so much aout of the package, that it springs jelousy sometimes.

As they say, what you have you don't upreciate, until is really gone.

Hmm interesting responses but few. I do not for one second believe that Oleg could give a flying fook what any of us think and that is partly why I posted this. I just wonderd also if he was to give it up and start a civilian air sim would folk be as keen to buy that?

If Oleg didn't give a fook what people said here why has he previously changed FM's and DM's and caved in on the 0.50 cal thing which he didn't seem very happy about?

It must be pretty hard to ignore hundreds of people each week whining and complaining about what is essentially his work for the last 4 years.

The forums are only a part of it. Maybe he can ignore you, but what about the mail, the emails and other ways? And what about coleages and friends he has in the industry or incolved in Il-2?

Not everybody that has a vision about the game is a nobody like you or I... Or must he live isolated from now on?

Also I should point out that I am not implying that he hide's away I am simply saying that he is quite capable of excercising his own free will.

Chill out, I am sure Oleg has no intention of withdrawing the product for all you flight monkies!

I am just speculating on what would happen if he chose to pursue another direction to combat sims.

Ok also I have had it pointed out to me by my collegues that the 'Mud man army' comment could be construed as offensive.

Therefore I appologise now to anyone who was offended by my terminology.

(sheesh this bloody word game business can get real complicated can't it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif )

Frankly I think we should all just get along.

I am going home now you will be glad to hear.

tHeBaLrOgRoCkS, I agree with you, m8. ORR can (and still is) pretty bad. It`s one thing having constructive criticisms, which i do have, but the whines and condemnation even get me down.

Every now and then I`ll try to post something POSITIVE about the GOOD things of FB and there are many (MANY more than the bad) and I can guarantee that some goik will appear and do his best to rubbish my positive statement and put Oleg down again. It happens every time.

Sometimes I think there`s a small hardcore of kids who are determined to put Oleg down no matter what.

Personally, I would have ORR deleted and put away. I know it sounds extreme, but I would rather trust to Olegg`s overall judgement than the judgement of some of the terrible posters who can do nothing but denegrate FB continuously.

FB is and still remains a GREAT sim.

oh, and tHeBaLrOgRoCkS, don`t be surprised by any negative comments from some posters against you. It`s almost automatic that someone will try to put any POSITIVE poster down, even in GD. It seems particularly bad with the Holidays/vacation at the moment.

Seafire, I don't want you, or tHeBaLrOgRoCkS to think that I view this post negatively. I couldn't agree more with the thought of the original post. This game has brought me closer than I will ever get to flying a real warbird, and has become a mighty passionate hobby for me. It was a good post, tHeBaLrOgRoCkS, and good thoughts.

I just posted in another thread, though, about how Oleg has listened to his customers, and made changes that he agreed with, posted helps to people in the past in tech support (not exactly a requirement for the lead developer of such a popular sim), flown with us, and checked the boards, chatting with us about post-patch changes that were made with each patch . . . etc.

When I was having a game crash issue, Oleg, not anyone else, came to my rescue. With everything else that he was working on at the time, he took a few minutes for little-ole'-me.

Trust me, if he didn't care about anything but our money, he sure wouldn't be involved in a niche market like combat flight simulation.

He really does care, mates.

Good post, tHeBaLrOgRoCkS .

I don`t mean you Tsisqua, sorry if I gave that impression. You`ve been always one of the very positive chaps of this sim and always constructive. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My two cents worth is that Oleg has not the time to consider a civilian flight sim. As for Mr. Gates- I doubt that he has any part of the actual work that goes into any of the MS sims, except to assign it as a task (unlike Oleg who has made this his lifes work).
