Gentelmen it is with great pleasure that i anounce our 3rd and final squadron addtion. the 418th Virtual Night Fighter Squadron (5th AF USAAF).

We will be flying the P-38 J & L Aircraft in place of the P-38 M's orginally flown
by the squadron in the SW PTO. They flew both the Modified P-38L-5-LO (P-38M)
with the added cockpit expantion for the Radio/radar operator untill the P-61 Black Widows hit the theater. As always we are recriuting new members. please stop by the 310th VFS web site and Have a look around and if anyone is intersted in Night Fighter Opperations please see the "Join Us" section and fill out the short app to aply.

we fell that with this new addtion as the FIRST USAAF Night Fighter Squadron in FB/AEP/PF that this rounds out our offering to the virtual pilots of our communtiy who are looking for a new squadron to call home, the varity that others lack.
with our group there is a wide varity of opertunities. With the 310th FS 58th FG you can relive the actions of a P-47 Thunderbolt pilot in the skies over New Guinea, or rain doen destruction in a B-25 (hopefully soon B-24's)
over a Japanesse airfield, or cruise the night skies in a (Sim) P-38 M over the Philiepeans.

what ever your preferance we have a place for you here with a great bunch of guys who enjoy this sim as much as anyone.

are right up your alley then look no farther. we've got you cover. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The 418th flew P-38Ms BEFORE P-61s? I think you might have that exactly backwards. The P-61 was an intended replacement for the P-70. The P-38M was only used operartionally in the last weeks of the war.

Anyways, hope it all works out for you. Hope you don't mind my having a 418th VFS, too. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Along with what Skychimp said, only about 75 or so P-38Ms converted. Plus, how are we supposed to shoot at night with nuclear blast muzzle flashes? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

ok so i got them backwards.
P61's cam 1st. but the 418th DID opperate and use the P-38M. as well as the p-61.

We don't have either. But you know what...
we're just having fun with this sim.

so i see no reason to argue.
Very funny by the way skychimp.

Heh... And the 418th only shot down 3 Zekes in just over 300 night sorties. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif
