I have been wondering for a long time why the P47 cockpit is so low poly compared to the so many other beautful cockpits there are in FB. It is such a joy to fly aircraft in FB and look around at the beautiful terrain from your beautiful cockpit but then you fly the Jug and you think to yourself what the heck is going on here. Why are all of the other cockpits so nice and why isn't this one up to the same standard that the others have set?

I don't think it was ever really finished.

One of the first 3rd party aircraft in the game BTW. I think there is some hope to improve the textures for Pacific Fighters...but little else.

Yeah, P-47s and Spitfires kinda not up to standard IMO. Ethalon for me is 110 and Gladiator... and 262 - mind blowing http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Yeah.. it's a bit depressing considering the D-10 is pretty much all I fly when I have a choice. I guess if you fly the razorback you're so caught up compensating for the poor FOV, that you don't really notice the details http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

Luthier at some time back made a comment that he would look into improving the Jugs cockpit. Nothing has been said in months tho about it. Anyone that can contact him may want to ask. I forgot who did the cockpit...JHT or something like that. He even commented that there were some problems with teh pit and requested they be fixed. It would be nice to have teh pit updated to higher polys and a sharper more detailed look.

does anyone know who did the texture mapping for the p47 or have the original textures? If i have time i would gladly retexture the cockpit adding more detail.

The model seems fine its just the textures are not very high quality.

It could be a number of things strenching very low textures over the surface or simply just the textures not being very detailed.

If oleg wants to send me them and the p47 cockpit model Id be glad to help out.

Lead can you do a quick sample of partial texturing and e-mail it to me? I`ll show it to Oleg and maybe we get this going http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
