I'm starting to think about replacing my crappy logitech joystick, and I'd like to hear what people out there in the IL2 community prefer. I've looked at a few joysticks in stores am willing to pay for anything up to and including the Saitek x45 ($80.00).

Hey,

Since my topic isn't too far off, I think I don't have to create another topic.

I'm finally going to replace my MSFFB 2 and sell it for cheap to a friend and probably buy a Saitek X45 since I've been wanting a HOTAS for a while. Besides, its only $75 w/ shipping on newegg.

Anyway, can someone recommend me rudder pedals? That and somewhere that sells them in the US since I can't afford shipping from anywhere else.(For obvious reasons)

Thanks.

HighSpeedDirt;

Whoa there fella! Rethink the part about giving the MS stick away. Does it work? Good. Now buy the X-45 and go for CH pedals. I have an X-45 and they are great! But others use the X-45 throttle and combine it with the MSFFB2 stick and use the X-45 stick as a button bay. Check Bearcat 99's posts. He's a major advocate of that setup. CH pedals are inexpensive and have a quality reputation.

My 2 kopecks worth.

HighspeedD,

I second that motion. You can find CH Pro USB pedals for $110 + shipping at a lot of outlets. Got mine at Marv Golden Sales. Check the retailers list at CHProducts.com.

cheers

WHOOPS forgot to mention: I'm a lefty! I mentioned the X-45 above but it's basically out of the question because it is obviously for righties. Any recommendations for ambidexterous joysticks? Are there any joystick/throttle combos available for lefties? Thanks.

baltar, I'm left handed and have a x45. Stick with it I find having my left on the throttle is quite good is it gives me better control over that.Altho it does help that I play cricket, golf and guitar right handed.

I know it's a lot of money to spend on a high learning curve but I would go for the x45. It has taken me a while to get used to it but now the practise is paying off. I know you all already now this but this game rocks I love it, it's my first flight sim and there is nothing like tearing around the skies in a 109, spit or p51. I haven't played online yet as I'm a bit nervous to test my wings and I've only jsut graduated to full real settings. It's only taken me a few months!!!!

oh and before I forget abit off topic I know but I've not posted alot but this forum is cool. sorry for stating the obvious.

Everyone forgets that left handed jet fighter pilots seem to cope fine with stick in the right/throttle in the left. You just have to accept that you can adapt.

That being said, see my last post http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

And, of course, the captain's seat in all Airbus A3XX's has a stick on the left and the throttles on the right - all right handed pilots have had to learn to fly with this config, so it can be done.

Tully's first post still offers the best adice though http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Just bought a Logitech 3D Pro for my son's new setup. But not many people seem to like this stick. Is there anything good to say about this stick?

My first impressions were pretty good. I use an MS Sidewinder Precision 2 with an n52 Nostromo in my rig.

bailOut, it took some practice and a few trial profiles before it worked the way I wanted. But the action has always been smooth and sure on my equipment. Zen put me onto it, and I really like it.
