I currently have Pentium 4, 1.6 ghz, 40 gb, 1gb RAM, FX 5700 ultra 128 mb and the game runs good on excellent both offline or online. But when going over bases with lots of flak and AA the game really starts to stutter, especially online. What is the least amount of upgrade I would need to stop this or is that possible. I am really concerned that this will take away my enjoyment of attacking ships on the upcoming PF

Will the OS or FB even start?

Ram and VC both look good but your processor could use a boost. Something in the 2.4+ range would show greater benefit.

I used to run FB on a Duron 850, and an Nvidia Ti4200 128. I ran on excellent settings, and S3TC texture compression.

Hats off to Oleg and team for making a game that is configurable for slower machines.

Also, check out the readme file that came with the game to learn how to set up FB for slower machines while playing a campaign . . . you can limit the number of ground objects and flights unrelated to your missions.
