I just thought I'd toss this out for the folks who never heard of GIMP.

GIMP, the GNU image manipulator is a very fine paint program originally developed for the Linux platform. It is availble as shareware, "FREE" here>

http://www.gimp.org/

I have been useing this for years, since back in the CFS days. Gimp is actually better than paint shop pro, and probably the only image sotftware you will need,

It's very hady for converting .TGA files into .JPEG or whatever, and creating skins.

Be sure to download the GTK runtime envinroment for windows.

Gimp really is excellent. Folks who already paid for Photoshop may scoff at it, since it doesn't have as many scripts, but it is free professional software. I use it almost every day.

yep, I'm a fan of the Gimp too. Great freeware.

I also have a chuckle at its name as well.

Yup the The Gimp is a excellent program which is very near to Photoshop in quality. To get win32 binaries check this site out http://www.wingimp.org/. I had no problem following Photoshop tutorials but doing the work in Gimp.
BTW Gimp 2.0 just came out with support for CMYK, for all you prepress junkies. Also for those who do not think The Gimp is of professional caliber there is a branch of Gimp development specifically for film called Film Gimp which is used extensively in Hollywood. Some projects to note are: The Last Samurai, Titanic, Hulk etc...
