View Full Version : Some more ground attackers?

I like ground attack missions, especially if I can fly them in a dynamic campaign.

In the german fighter bomber campaign you can select the Fw190A4 and A5, but they are still FIGHTERS...

Of cause you can change the plane`s class to fighter bomber, but if I fly a Fw190A in a FIGHTER campaign it is then a Jabo, too...

Oleg, is it possible to get some early Fw190F versions?
It won`t be much work...just renaming... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The Fw190F2 is a renamed FwA5/U3, the A5/U17 a F3/R1...

If we`d have such ground attack versions we can fly ground attack missions with them, while we can fly fighter missions with the "standard" Fw190As...

Hs~123 needs a close look by ground pounders, if Oleg could get it over the FB. Even the Luftwaffe, like computer flight simmer, was fooled by its primitive appearance and, like USA and A~1 SkyRaider many years later, bitterly regreted not having made alot more...

Sure it would be great if we could have some additional aircraft, and I`d really like to have the Hs123 or a flyable Hs129, too, but that`s not the point.

I think there are dozens, maybe hundreds of planes somebody wants to fly in FB/AEP, but every NEW plane means lot of work.

I just want an existing plane in another role, that`s all...not much work I think... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong but there isn't really anything stopping anyone from using their FW190 as a ground pounder. I've actually begun building a mission where you fly a low level hit and run with a FW190A-5 with bombs attached and its a great time.

I'm looking forward to the Tempest and Typhoon so I can go on armed recon with rockets or bombs and either target trains or fighters...whichever one shows up in the crosshairs first.

No, you`re not wrong...I`m afraid I didn`t make myself clear... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

So let me try again:

In FB, every plane belongs to a class, has a role, e.g. fighter, bomber etc., right?
If you play a dynamic campaign, you`re assigned to missions depending on that aircraft`s class, e.g. if you play a dynamic He111 Campaign you get some ground attack missions and no interception missions, right?

The problem is, an aircraft can belong to one class only, be a fighter OR a ground attacker in this case.
If you play a fighter campaign and select a Fw190A4 or A5, you`ll be assigned to all kind of missions, mostly air to air combat.
If you play a fighter bomber campaign, you`ve selected this campaign because you wanted some ground attack missions.
If you take an A4 or A5 then, you`ll be assigned to the same kind of missions like you`d play a Fw190A4 in a FIGHTER campaign...a few ground missions, but lots of air combat...

In some cases it`s the other way round: I`ve played a german/russian fighter campaign and selected the Bf109E7/B and the I-153...I`ve had NOT A SINGLE FIGHTER MISSION, only ground attack!

My suggestion is now, to create a special ground attack version of some planes, especially the Fw190A4/5.
If this is possible, you can fly this a/c as a fighter OR as a mudmover...that`s what I`m asking for...

Of cause some more new planes would be great, but ny idea won`t cause much work because the planes ARE in FB already... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

yeah, that does make sense http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You want greater chances for bombing missions in Fw. Awsum!

Indianer... Oh, Did you see Stuka campaige? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Well, I had been waiting for Hs-129 at most. Hs-129 cockpit suppose to be finish long time but hands changed by mods sometimee due to fates. Last modeler of Hs-129 cockpit was calling into military duty. Also, I do want see Hs-123 as I was jealous of seeing more and more flyable biplanes show up in IL-2.

Ahhh I see now. What your talking about more of is the dynamic campaign generator accepting each plane into a single class. I understand completely now http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yes...that wasn`t esay... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

@WereSnowleopard: Yes, I`ve started the Stuka Campaign...not bad, but the Stuka is not a Jabo... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Dive Bombing is great, but except of this, the missions are somewhat boring...
The Stuka is not really fast (*g*), so it takes a long time to reach the target area (and to get home of cause, too).
You make one dive attack at the target, that`s it.
Sure, you can attack the remaining ground targets with your guns, but that`s not the same as if you would fly a "real" Jabo, like the Fw190.

Maybe it is possible to link the mission type to the unit you belong to?
If I fly the Fw190A4 in a Jagdgeschwader I`ll get fighter missions, if I`m using the same a/c in a Schlachtgeschwader I`m going to be a "mudmover"...
