anyway i think you should have been hit in ur pit, don't think it is lagg, but maybe the bullets which would hit you were lost > (packed loos)

I think those damage textures are somewhat generic and do not represent actual pojnts of impact.

That's right the bullet holes are almost always in the same place just to simulate hits to the cockpit, that's why in a Bf 109 you always get the same bullet hole in the ReVi gun sight, it doesn't mean a bullet actually hit there.

Yep. Some aircraft have bullet holes in the foot pedals! That should technically mean one or both of your feet are busted and you wouldn`t be able to control your rudder. But it doesn`t seem to work that way.

Take a look at the shot I have on this page:

http://homepage.mac.com/mllaneza/PhotoAlbum2.html

The gunner on that Stuka must have reached down to pick up his pen just as the bullet went through the cockpit.

Wow I never noticed that it modeled bullet holes in the cockpit (besides the canopy)...thats really cool.

Anyway I think you were just lucky, Ive read stories from pilots who have had bullets come through the canopy and pass within inches of them...so i think its possible.

You must be relatively new to this game since I have had this type of cockpit damage millions of times and didn't even get wounded about 98% of the time. This is just the way FB is!!!! Too many times to remember. Lotsa of lost instruments in my time. I fly mostly offline, so lag is not the cause.

Unfortunately most flight sims do not simulate real-time bullet hits, the complexity at this point is high and a generic bullet hit bitmap may not look right in many areas. For this reason, hits to a general hit box will activate certain LOD texture overlay layers. It is far from representing actual hits and the holes certainly do not indicate penetration, which means the holes only show the panel has been "hit" and not the pilot. It is more of a probability system than a material system of course, since we are talking about functional computer code and not a material physics simulator http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Don't forget the arrows show only the original trajectory of the bullet. An arrow might go straight through the pilot even though the actual bullet was stopped or deflected by armour.

thx for the info

maybe 1 day http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif every single bullit will be tracked & shown as they actualy hit
