Hi all.

I'm looking to buy a new geforce card and was wondering which one is the best at around the 100 mark.

the reason i'm not going for radeon is that my pc came with a geforce so i want this transition to be as fault free as possible

That would be FX5200Ultra,FX5600 or FX5600Ultra.

You can pick Gainward, they`re pretty good but bear in mind that FX series are sh!t compared to Radeons and are almost the same as Gf4Ti series.

If I were you I`d go for Gf4Ti4400 or 4600.

I cannot imagine how a Radeon will make any difference. For NVidea the best bang/buck is the FX5900 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Your best mid range cards are the Radeon 9600Pro/XT (XT is a bit faster) and the GeForce FX5700.

The FX5200 is in that $100 but its not really a gamers card at all. Depends on what you want it for...its the cheapest DX9 card around but its not a terribly good performer. Take a look around, see what your prices are and what your priorities are and make a decision based on that.

Now that the 9800 non-pros are all but defunct, I have to almost agree there, arcadeace. And the FX performs very well in FB to boot.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

However, the 9800 Pros have come down quite a bit and an OEM Sapphire can be had as low as $210.00 and since the FX is working at or near it's MAX fill rate, the 9800 Pro should handle larger loads, given it's headroom in fill rate over the FX5900.

Just my opinon of course.

Stay away from the 5200 its a crappy card for sims....especially this one.... For GF dont go below a 5600Ultra.. if you cant afford that right now then hold out till you can. The extra $$ will be worth it in the long run. Actually...try not to go below a 5700Ultra..... that way you will have a year or two headromm.

I agree with Bearcat. I just recently got a GeForceFX5700 Ultra and I like it a lot. What sold me on the card was it was affordable, but it also had pixel shading technology, which is going to become more common in the near future as a minimum requirement for many games. Actually, it's a minimum requirement for several right now, so if I were you, I would make sure that whatever I buy, it has pixel shading capability.

Yes. That belongs in boldface, I think. Do NOT buy GeForceMX. The product is almost a lie on their part. It's old technology. It's not worth buying and you don't want it.

That is about the best compliment you could give a Radeon because the difference with a 9600XT would be pretty significant http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My GForceIII doesn't even come close to my 9700Pro in performance.

People wondering this question right now should go for the GF 5900 XT, its a cut down GF 5900 and is only 150. Much faster than the GF 5700 Ultra or the 9600XT.

Its the new mid range card of choice for sure.

Try a 5700 NON ultra, ultra adds about 30-40 USD.
