Well that`s a simple answer, there`s no 0m max. speed data in the Mustang`s flight manual. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

So next comes what you choose to believe, the real life flight tests or poorly labeled curves in the Holy Book AHT. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The curves in the Holy Book seem to match perfectly those in the tests.

Don't you ever get tired of being wrong?

Nightwish beer? Oh that`s sounds fun, maybe the music adds to where it can`t match belgian ale, LOL. :lol Sure have to try those once .

Think I will sip a bit of that beer on 26? October. That`s the big date, m8. Nightwish in Budapest, Once again !! They were here 2 years ago, at the Sziget fest.

That`s why that old Wingless Monkey is so depressed. You see, he doesn`t know Nightwish. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif

...somewhere between 350 mph and 405 mph.

The V-1650-3 engined P-51B/C's were tested between 350 and 359 mph while the -7 B/C's and P-51D were in the range of 355 to 373 mph at 67" Hg, depending on condition, and probably ~380 mph at 72" Hg WEP. At the RAF-standard 80" WEP and 2000+ HP, 390 to 400+ mph was to be expected.

In otherwords, no the Mustang is not overmodeled in sea level speed. It is right within the tested range for a 67" WEP P-51D. It is undermodeled for an 8th AAF-standard 72" WEP P-51D and is *way* below an RAF-standard 80" WEP Mustang III/IV's 395+ mph/636 kph.

THanks for the info.

I think that the 8th AF one would be good to have in the game!

P-51D tested by the Brits.

+25 = 81" Hgmm, maximum in British service with 150 grade fuel (RAF only)

+18 = 67" Hgmm, maximum in service with 100 grade fuel (US units expect 8th AF)

The 8th USAAF used 72" Hg boost, which required 150 grade fuel, as they did not take as much risk as the RAF. 72" should give slightly highewr speed than 67", about 365mph IMHO.
