Combined with a Foxpro joystick makes a good reasonably priced setup. The pedals helped make me a average pilot from a horrid one.

does your joystick have twist, because you can just use that for rudder and ditch the rudder pedals, even though they are pretty cool

I dumped the twisty rudder for pedals and it actually improved my aim. I also felt more immersive. There's an ajustment perios but it's minimal.

My joystick had the twist, but the pedals are MUCH better. For me the twist had no brain reflex action, and I flew like ****.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/34.gif He got the pedals so he wouldn't have to use the "twisty" function. Why would he want to switch back?

seems kinda like a step back to do so to me.

I can't imagine going back to a twisty stick after more than two years using pedals!!

You can tie the twist in by using the HOTAS controls in FB, Perkin, but you probably need to wait until any urge to twist the stick (for rudder) has gone. You could use it for incremental flap control, or prop pitch, or any of the three trimsets.

With HOTAS you can also set your pedal presses to use. Brakes is the obvious candidate (great for taxiing), but you can use the second pedal for another function. In my case I use my left pedal for flap increments and the right for brakes.

Pedals are really "immersive" as far as plane-handling is concerned. I put them 3rd on my list of such tackle - stick first, then TrackIR, then pedals. He he, that'll pull a few trout i expect! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Your soooo right. That twisty stick was making me develop some bad flying habits. Because it felt so unnatual, I almost never used my rudder. A Tupolov bomber could turn inside my P39 :-)
