Never pre-order anything, ever. Ever.

When the forums erupt about the game finally arriving in stores, drive to your local computer store and buy one off the shelf.

The truth is I just have not had that experience, maybe it's where I live or something but I get everything faster if I order online. I live in Miami which puts me at the very end on the corner of the entire country. That could have something to do with it.

As an example I got Wings of War in a few days after rlease and it still has not hit one local store.

The point was to show the new release date accoring to Electronics Boutique

I think people have had various results with preorder.

Nov. 9th is the new date?... subject to change.

My experience with EB Games has been very good. I think you can bet that if they say the release date has been pushed back then no one else will have it either. I preordered CFS3 and that was a bomb.. I couldnt take it anymore so I bought a copy from Comp USA and sent my pre order back un opened when it arrived.. which was about 6 days later.. and of course I knew by then that CFS3 had issues and I was extra pissed because I had spent $100 on it.

I said I'd never pre order anything again.. but of course I couldnt resist it when FB was coming out... so I pre ordered directly from my local EBGames..... when FB came out I had it on the day it was released when the store opened. I have used EBGames ever since and have not been disapointed. I always thought that a pre order meant you would get it before the stores but it doesnt. It means that whoever you are getting it from will get it when it is released and then you will get it. By preordering from a local store like EB Games you can just go there and pick it up. LOL.. I took a day off work for FB when it came out... and the AEP too come to think of it. Well.... needless to say I have November 9th on my schedule as a vacation day. I just ordered my PF this afternoon... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Pre ordering tends to be worthless either way.

When FB was due to come out, I put in a preorder with the local EB, figuring (rightly) that I should have my copy the day it comes out.

I wanted it that day, so I skipped on ordering direct from Ubi with free 2 day shipping.

The day of FB's release comes and goes. EB did not get in their copies.

Nor did they the next day.

Or the day after that.

Three days after release, they finally get it in stock. I could have gotten it direct from Ubi and had it in less time.

Lesson learned, or so I thought.

AEP's due to come out, and remembering the experience with FB, I order direct from Ubi with free 2 day shipping and skip the EB preorder.

2 days after release I still don't have the copy I ordered, so on day 3 I went down to the local EB and walked out with a copy of AEP. They'd had them since the day it came out.

So unless they give out some special bonus I really want with the preorder, I don't do it anymore. There's no assurance that you'll get your copy on release day, and if I can't count on that, what's the point of a preorder?

The day I can pick it up and take it home is the day they'll get my money. Not before.

Besides the point that I've been stiffed on my "guaranteed" pre-order game many times (including FB and AEP), I've finally knocked something loose in my block head and figured out that there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to preorder a game other than to satisfy some kind of Christmas-eve feeling of anticipation or status.

Same price? Check.

Same availability date? Check.

Same features? Check.

Who cares? Check.
