This game Will require, Spitfire (650 received), P-40 (850 received), DAP Beaufighter(200 received, 600 built), P-51 (perhaps the license built aussie version of it too, CA-18 Mustang, P-51 saw service after May 45 or so, 500 saw service), And the Australian aircraft, CAC Wirraway (750 build) and CAC Boomerang (250 built).
http://users.chariot.net.au/~theburfs/index_mil.html

I am Australian, glad to have a game where I can fly in my own airforce! What sort of missions will there be? Defending Darwin from japanese bomb raids, invading PNG?

I suspect the action will be far to the North of Australia, I don,t think we will see to many new aircraft created for this one except if they start with a P or an F, but a Beaufort and a Hudson or two would be nice even if only AI. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If they can bother with the Hawk, IAR-80, MS406, Fiat G.50 and buffalo for FB.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif It's quite possible. Why should Finland have all the attention, we had a much bigger airforce than they did. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I hope you Aussies get all the planes you ask for.
The role the RAAF and RNZAF played in the South Pacific was critical to allied success.

But Japan did. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif This is not an Eastern Front game.

I agree, with some of the bizzare stuff that made it into FB (B-1 etc) I don't think some of the rarer Commonwealth aircraft is any greater ask, certainly more credible in anycase.

This could be a good chance for the world to learn a bit more about the war in the Pacific, much more than Pearl Habour, Midway, Iwo Jima and a few bombing Japan missions to finish up with.

I certainly went out and read a bit more on the eastern front because of FB. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Guys, some of those planes mentioned [IAR-80, B-1 etc] got made because people got off their arses, researched the topic in exhaustive detail, then made high quality 3DS models of the pit and externals.

Some talented guy is going to have to do the same if we want famous Oz military related planes in there too.

I don't have any great 3d modelling talent of my own, nor sources on the Hudson/Wirraway/Boomerang pits, but if any of you do, it might be a good idea to go and post about them on Netwings.

Only way they'll be made if they're not being done in-house by Luthier.

These places would likely offer details, you could probably contact people who fly them!

I too am an Aussie that is excited by the opportunity to actually fly for my own country. (As opposed to flying for the GB or the US yet AGAIN)

At the very least this game will need the Wirraway... for the challenge if nothing else...

Being able to fly a mission actually over Australia would also be pretty cool (ie the defence of Northern Australia).

Can't wait!

(It is definitely time to upgrade my graphics card....)

It would be helpful if anyone haveing info on the aussie planes to post it here so the modelers can access it. or start a new thread with a title something along the lines of "ATTENTION PF MODELERS I HAVE INFO ON THE BOOMERANG THAT MAY BE USEFUL"
thes are 3rd party aircraft and any info is useful. this way they can see it.

I would very much like to see a Darwin map, at least, so that we could have some action on Australian soil!

As an Australian myself I'd love to see some Aussie planes. Even if its only a camo set for a Spitfire.

That's 'udson .. 'udson with a H!

Wouldn't be a Pacific scenario without a Hudson.

Great to fight some dogfights amongst the cloud covered mountains and valleys in PNG.

The Hudson is a nice plane. A friend of mine at my old work use to fly in one to take arial photos for the Tasmanian State Government. Before they got a Hudson they used the Avro Anson, which was also a converted WW2 bomber/Recon aircraft.

Hmm, yes the contribution of Austrailians and New Zealanders is truely important. After all, as the Americans and, partially British charged onward for glory the Austrailians had to fight the Japanese that the Americans bypassed. At least that is what I got from it, being American Australia's contribution are barely mentioned in classes I have taken on WWII. Usually it is New Guinea that gets mention.

Someone mentioned Finland having more planes and it shouldn't be that way? I think this was mentioned jokingly because obviously IL2 was about the Eastern Front, and on that front The Finns gave a good account of themselves, but maybe this is good evidence that PF should support Australian units for the PTO.
