View Full Version : New planes

It's been awhile since we've been given any news about additonal planes and a new patch for FB (I guess everybody is focused on PF right now).

I know that Ju-88 exteriors and cockpit have been done since may, and I think i saw a post titled 'Mosquito finished'. Also, the Tempest and Typhoon should be nearly done by now.

So does anybody know when we might actually see some new planes. Will there be a FB patch or must we wait for PF?

By the way, what is the status of flyable Pe-2? I've seen some very early stage pics of the cockpit, is somebody still working on it or did they pull the plug? As far as I've heard, Pe-2 is very difficult to model since there is not enough info.

The statement was made that there WILL be another patch/expansion for FB, but only after the release of PF. I would expect PF sometime in November and the FB patch either soon after (2-3 weeks) or possibly after the New Year.

Not sure yet if the FB patch/expansion will be a "paid add-on". There hasn't been much clarification of that yet and will likely depend on the volume of content. It seems there will be quite a bit of content so it could go either way.

Pe-2 is in very final stages. DM and technical things like camera positioning, reticles, pivots, etc..

When that patch finally does come, you should expect some nice Italian rides to. There have been dedicated people working on the 202, 205 and other nice ones for a long time. They should be about done with those now.

There is rumor that JustFlight, which made the excellent BoE addon to FB, is working on a Spit XIV, , the most beautiful fighter plane of WW2. (and a superb plane, if somewhat short range!)

Agamemnon22,
If this is true (and I dont doubt you) then i will only be playing PF for a very short time. The Pe-2 will be some hot action-good luck with the final touches.

OK I was about to start whinning how I don't want to wait this long (after PF) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif and demanding my Ju-88 ASAP, but then I read the entire thread, and the news about Pe-2 almost finished and the rumour about the Spit XIV are too good to be true! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

If so I won't mind waiting a bit longer for this nice package! And I too probably won't be spending too much time on PF! Once we get the Ju-88, the Mossie, Pe-2 and possibly Typhoon, ground attacks are going to become more popular than dogfighting, methinks!

Wow. I knew about an eventual patch/add-on, but I didn't know it had the potential to be so huge.

Italian planes, Ju-88s, Pe-2s, Spit XIV, that's awesome. I can't wait...Man, I'm freekin' excited!

Regarding the Spitfire addon I mentioned earlier. I went to the JustFlight website. The good news is that they are about to come out with a CD with SEVERAL marks of Spitfire, even up to the astonishing Mark 22. Usually teir modelling is very good. But the bad news is that it's for CFS4 and FS2004. I think the deal that Ubisofdt has with JustFlight is to use only aircraft that are first intoduced in FB. But of course JustFlight can design campaigns based on FB planes, which they have done very well. Let's nag Oleg.

Forget nagging Oleg...he has provided us the opportunity to do it ourselves.

The problem is talent and support.

We may have the talent but we also need the support in finding that talent.

Hopefully the modders get paid good. FP will be new game so a paid CD. Excellent.

There should be more planes now in development than came with AEP CD, so there is enough to make another paid FB addon CD...

....okay for lack of official title, lets just call it the "Ju88" CD or the "Pe2" CD, as those seem to be the FB Most Wanted.

I love the FW series but despite that I don't really see a point in having another very rare plane. I'd much rather have a Tempest/Typhoon combination, along with some additional ground objects (British vehicles and AFV are still missing), A-20s and Mosquitos for Normandy landings ground attack and DF missions.

Hey, guys, to all of you who said "i wont be playing PF for long...."
isnt it going to be possible to merge PF with your FB OR have it as a standalone? I heard this before like in mid july i believe. So youd be able to test the Pe-2's wonderful attack ability on a carrier, if you want

Yes, there will be 1945 Full Real missions with Pe~2 against Japan in Mongolia and Korea.

Hitler was hoping Japan would attack USSR in 1941 with Zero against MiG~3. We can humour the fellow, just a little bit. Would make interesting campaign or online WAR....

...hopefully FB+FP (FBP) will give online WAR builders and mission creators some extra tools to talk to the game and maps. There is already a review describing some interesting new properties to give planes in FMB....or we say "FMP" for the FP. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Are you disagreeing or agreeing with me LEXX? its not clear.
If you thought i meant that a pe-2 would take off from a carrier then understand i meant that you could conceivably (since FB and PF will be merged if you choose) attack carriers with PE-2 planes. In an editor or whatever.
Am i mistaken that such a merging option exsists?

FB and FP will mix.

Any plane should have the ability to set for takeoff from carrier. If not, there will be much B~25 Whining.

The original update says it is more or less complete, and I didn't see anything lacking. All the pits are gorgeous.

Also, don't forget Ju 88s.

There's also a good bunch of externals on development: SM.79, Do 335, Tempest, CW-21, Re.2000, Swordfish, etc.

And we don't know yet everything that's cooking in PF kitchen, but we all can see Gibbage's PBY and I remember we saw A-20 and B-25 pits a lot of time ago... Plus the official development pics... Don't forget PF will be able to merge with FB stuff.

Now THIS is a complete sim.

Mosquito IV AI (done, with Oleg)

Mosquito VI Flyable (done, with Oleg)

Typhoon IB Late (done with Oleg) *may or may not get a cockpit depending on the Tempest

Tempest Mark V (all done except for cockpit and shadow LODs were told)

Spitfire Mark XIV (regrouping now with Fievel, Outlaw_UK, and Prangster - were trying to get it finished)

Ju-88 flayble (with Oleg)

Do-335 (external with Oleg, cockpit WIP)

Swordfish (WIP - texture mapping being done)

A-26 (just found out about it, main LOD done apparently but the rest is still under construction)

Thats all I got http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Curtiss-Wright CW-21 (Being done by Gibbage and Jeronimo)

Yep, basically, if you install it on top of your current IL2/FB/EAP install it will work just like another patch, at least thats what they are trying I think. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

OK, thanks! I guess we will have to wait and see how it works in the end. Guess I'll have to look for another no-CD patch then. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif

I forgot:

MC.202, 205 and Re.2005 were at the works with Club Med, a group of guys working on Med planes. As for MC.200 Saetta, all I know there was a practically finished LOD 0 some months ago, but it was stopped. Don't know more...

Ah, Lancelot has resumed the building of a pit for the Hs 129. He's lost one of the two guys who were helping him with the textures, so I guess he may need some help.

Finally, someone got his hands on the unfinished He 177. I was skinning it some months ago but I couldn't progress any more because of the unfinished model. Don't know actual state of model and textures by now.
