Evening all. My question is on what the Yak-9K was developed for.

From the Aircraft section of IL2sturmovik.com website...

"The Yak-9K (K-‚"krupnokaliberniy‚"Ě- large caliber version) was a modification of the Yak-9T on which the engine-mounted NS-37 cannon was replaced with a 45 mm NS-45 cannon designed by Nudelman and Suranov. The field trial series entailed only 44 pre-production prototypes. The field trials took place in two time periods: 3.08.1944-18.09.44 and then 15.01.45-15.02.45. 340 sorties were made with 51 combats at altitudes of 100-6,000 m. 8 FW-190s and 4 Bf-109s were shot down and one Yak-9K was lost."

Clearly states that the K was a modification of the T model Yak-9, which was designed for anti-tank with its high velocity 37mm cannon with AP rounds. Shooting at ground in FB with T version clearly shows all rounds are AP as puffs of smoke on ground.

However, when I fire Yak-9K at ground, I see the rounds are a 50/50 mix of High explosive/tracer mix and Armor Piercing. What was the Yak-9K NS - 45mm cannon for? Anti-tank or Anti-Aicraft or Both?
