Here's the community question for today:

(Taskforce1x1): Will SHIII be compatible with Microsoft's new Longhorn and new XP SP2 service pack?
SH3 will surely be compatible with XP Service Pack 2. About Longhorn - we hope so.

Wow, the questions are getting better each day ! Is there actually 1 person that thinks SHIII will not be tested on XP SP2 ? Please stand up !

But of course one can not like each and every dev-team Q, so better luck tomorrow.

I'm not going to do it. No, I'm not. OK, here it goes.(Sorry TaskForce)

Is this a LAME question or what?
What a waste of time.

Where's the ANSWERS to the things of real substance? Something that we go 'ooo, aah' about.

No, it only works with DOS.
Of course it'll be compatible w/XP. DUH !!

Was this question one of those that wasn't posted from the second 'live chat'? How could anyone ask something that's so obvious. Especially since so many of us didn't have notice it was happening.

How about something that has us drooling about whats to come.

Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

Yes, we have had a few good questions answered, so it was only a matter of time until we had a duff one http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

No offence to Taskforce or the person on whos behalf he most likely asked, but i'm sure we all know, including Thunak, that was one question that answered itself.

Overall though, this Q&A daily still provides many gems, so keep it up and don't get tempted to go anal. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I asked this before, but nobody answered me. Does anyone know why isn't UbiRazz updating anymore?

Formal reply is in another thread, but basically he's been/will be away because of the bank holiday and the upcoming British gamestars competition.

If the Dev-team didnt think it was an important question or one that needed an answer then why oh why did they post it up?

Obviously they thought it was a valid question what with the changing face of PC's operating systems almost on an hourly basis.

Imagine if the DevTeam had answerd..."er whats Longhorn ?"

And anyway in answer to Longhorn they say " ..we hope so..." NOT "..we know so.."

Then another delay would have surely been afoot.

we are not all experts in PC's and many people out there (non-experts) can now sit back knowing SH3 WILL be compatible with any future OS upgrades.

Chill out.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v463/RedTerex/shake-eyes.gif

I have to defend Taskforce. Everyone who knows Ubisoft and Microsoft has to expect difficulties with further Windows releases and SP's. It is also in the hand of application developers whether an application will be compatible to coming windows releases (that's why few old games run under xp and others not).

so relax, all of you.

All,

Here is why I posted the question to the dev team the way I did---

Understand that Microsoft did warn that some applications wont work with XP SP2. Also since as we see now more and more DC and SHII are starting to have problems with XP and some of the drivers within XP making the menu screens appear with flaws in the imaging.

What now about Longhorn. Its not even out yet and anyways its a CODE name for the new Microsoft OS. Who knows if SHIII will suffer the same fate as SHII and DC is now having.

quote:
In an effort to head off support calls, Microsoft has published a list of about 50 programs from both the Redmond software giant and third-party software vendors that require tweaking in order to work properly with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Among the applications that are encountering problems are Web servers, remote desktops, file-sharing applications, FTP clients, multimedia streaming software and e-mail notifications. A number of systems-management applications and games also require manual modifications in order to work properly with SP2, according to Microsoft.
