Tenchu was kind of the assassins creed of the 90's and is no as dead as it can be, because of the lack of attention..
I believe ubisoft now, has the potential to make something pretty awesome for xbox and playstation, with this title..
By taking out all the childish cr4ppy movement sounds/ the bad graphics and idiotic AI and turning it into a serious free roaming rated M stealth game, this could turn out to be a must have..
Take the AI and stealth from splintercell, the engine and idea of free roaming threw a Japanese city or forest from assassins(only fully stealth)..make the fighting and movement unique and like a new serious tenchu should be..

I read some reviews on the previous games and they all talk about a succesfull formula, but the games just don't get the attention they deserve..
Because i think this game could be something you guys would buy, i would like your thoughts on the matter and when i find out how, i want to make a poll..

Thanx

This has been suggested 1000x before. I myself wouldn't mind a realistic recreation of Japan.

really?..ok, but did they also had a poll to?..because i believe the devs probably notice the hughe amount of assassins fans, that would want to buy this game..after all you guys are ubisofts most important target area..this one has the potential to be hughe..

Any specific reasons for Tenchu? why not Ninja from PS1 or Otogi for the original Xbox?
i like the demo here's proof:

It's no doubt ancient Feudal Japan is ranked as the top 3 requests for AC3 setting (I'm sure Ubi knows this), There's just way too much they could make use of Japan, for whatever reasons they decided to do it in America for AC3 baffles me greatly. It would be such a waste not to use Japan for an "Assassins" Creed game. There probably will be an AC game set in Japan after AC3, if not Japan, I'm pretty sure China will.

Something the devs have said long ago, and which seems to have been re-affirmed in a recent Kotaku article, is that the Japanese people are wary of westerns making an AC game set in Japan. Many of the feel westerns never capture the true essence of Japan in games and are worried it would just be another misinterpretation of the ninja clichés as seen through western eyes. In early interviews the devs gave this as one of the reasons why they wouldn't want AC to go to Japan even though the franchise has been hugely successful there. It seems the Japanese love the games as long as they're set in other countries besides their own.

that's all understandable, but i'm not talking about assassins here..thats the beauty of it, it's NOT assassins..., but it should be interesting to assassin creed fans..and also the japanese assassins fans..
keep tenchu japanese, even with english subtitles..make the surroundings, the fighting and story all japanese..just make it more realistic, mature and bada$$..these guys are only full stealth mode and may not be seen by anyone..there are tons of mythical japanese story's..these ninja's did exist and what kind of games are there to honor them?..it's all kiddie cr4p!!.. these guys invented the freakin stealth..
why tenchu??, because your not really changing an entire game.. the first Tenchu i played in the 90's was a free roaming fully stealt assassination game..it's cr4ppy, but the formula is a succes..
And now that Tenchu is a ubisoft game, why not use the tools you got and make another hughe title..

...That's just the same concept where Americans didn't want AC to take place in America, same reason why I don't want AC to take place in America because I am from America, I've seen enough and know enough of my own country I was born in.

Seriously... Am I the only one who would be THRILLED to have an AC game set in his own country ?

What exactly is it that you want to accomplish ?

Bassie52

create another ancient free roaming game, but different from assassins creed..
This one is all about stealth and perfection..about the people who lived in shadows and invented the stealth, that makes games like assassins and splintercell so great..
there are tons of story's and character moves and surroundings and gameplay that are totally different from assassins, but should be just as appealing..
you only have to be able to do so (tenchu and assassins engine) and give it the attention it deserves..think about it

Plus, I think American history/ its historical architectures/ and its depth of city life is very boring compared to other countries with a more vast amount of history.
But opinions are opinions...

I have to admit, that looks great. Especially if trees can be climbed.

Bassie52

Tenchu is all about climbing the trees and houses, also by using a grappling hook.i also like the old dense citys, with the hughe pointy rooftops, were ronin's used to stand on, to gaurd the city against these mountain people(ninja)..and forests with hughe trees that are thousands of years old..

Ubisoft did publish the Tenchu games, you know?

so if anything, they may release an updated or HD one, if your a fan of that game :D

Bassie52
04-02-2012, 03:49 PM
@ shade; yeah i know, but if i'm wright, ubi and FORM software only published a wii and psp game for Tenchu in 2008, called shadow assassins..but never for the 360 or PS 3..
i'm a fan of the older tenchu games, but the last one for the 360, was in 2006 and from FORM software and microsoft..it was a childish and ugly tenchu game and the idea behind it is really good and unique, but the game itself is terrible..the reviews say the same..

Now that ubisoft can publish a new 360/ps3 tenchu game, they should go crazy on it and use there tools they use for assassins and splintercell to create an unique sandbox stealth assassins game..and if they make the storys/ gameplay and graphics realistic and mature, this game wil be hughe..

Bassie52
04-02-2012, 04:10 PM
thanks deviant, but the fact of the matter is that a few months ago, i allready asked the people on this forum, if the new assassins should be in ancient Japan..and the majority did not want that to happpen..they don't want it to turn into a ninja game and that is totally understandable, because it's a different game....
it's like ghost recon advanced warfighter 2 changed in to ghost recon future soldier..people rather had ghost recon warfighter 3 and future soldier as a completely different title next to it...and they would buy both games..they wil stil buy future soldier now, but rather had a game next to it with the old squad control..but now i try it again with tenchu, because if they give this game as much attention as they do with other top titles, you (we) have both free roaming stealth games and not dissapoint anyone..

I'm American and I would definitely have preferred somewhere else but I'm also super excited about this game so I have absolutely zero reasons to complain because it looks amazing anyway. Plus putting it during the revolution is genius quite frankly because this was the beginning of several other little revolutions like the one in France(which is what I was hoping for but it could still be done with the same character if they wanted to next) and then there is also the revolution in Haiti after that. There is soo much potential by starting there but I do agree that having a game in your own country is kind of boring and I know that it was a night and day difference between then and now, without a doubt, but it's still America. I love the tourist aspect of the games and I love seeing foreign lands especially the way they were hundreds or thousands of years ago in great detail. That alone is worth buying imo but America's history goes back about 300 years unless you count the Spanish settlers or the Ancient native Americans who typically didn't live in any kind of rural areas or cities with the exception of the Aztecs or Mayans. But the old world has unlimited amounts of awesome history to explore at almost any time and almost any place and as an American, I'm more interested in seeing something like that than running through trees in the forest which I do here all the time lol. I am looking forward to seeing the recreations of Boston and New York for sure. It's going to be amazing but for me, running through the streets of Paris in 1789 would be much cooler imo.

I would take Meiji over Edo or any other previous period for instance....

About an AC set in his own country, I have not played AC discovery and in regards of Viana, well the Spanish accent of the woman who got murdered was awful, it seemed that an american or canadian was impersonating a mexican lol.

I would enjoyed the Reconquista period though.
