I'm playing AC2 again on my PC for the second time. I previously remember saving Lorenzo and getting the cape. Now I have killed Francesco Di Pazzi and saved Lorenzo and heard his touching speech, but no cape. What's going on here? Is that when you get the cape or was I wrong?

I think you get it later. Lorenzo will actually mention it in his speech when he hands over the cape to you, and note that it won't grant you complete immunity from the law.

You get the cape when he literally hands you the cape. It's later on though. Just continue playing.

So some other time I save Florence he gives another speech overlooking the same river? I remember the part of the cape and him handing it to you, which made it weird to me that I didn't get it.

I guess I'll find out soon.

I think you get it at the next marker/crosshair at Villa Medici.

It's later on.. you get it after assassinating Jacopo de Pazzi.

Yeah, this. I mistook your Francesco for a Jacopo, frogger.

Doesn't he get betrayed by Rodrigo Borgia?

As mentioned, you get the cape upon having eradicated the de Pazzi family (after taking out Jacopo). Ezio receives it when he decides to leave Firenze to go to Venice.
