 Now that Alex Amancio has left Ubisoft after completing Assassin's Creed: Revelations as its Creative Director of the Assassin's Creed Franchise, Ubisoft is struggling to find a new Creative Director for the Franchise. I'm worried.

What tells you they are "struggling" to get a new Creative Director? We haven't heard anything about it.

After what Amancio did to ACR I'm wondering if creative directors are ever a good thing.

Whoever played Assassin's Creed and thought "You know what this needs? GRENADES."

No, he talked about not being creative director for future ACs a long time ago. There was an interview last October when he spoke about that for the last time, before ACR came out.

Lots of people have misunderstood the recent news, and think the big thing is that he's left AC. It's not, it was only news again because he has also left Ubisoft.

AC3 has been in production for longer than that, and no doubt has its own creative director already. You don't need to worry :)

Ehm, why is this thread being used to bash the creative director(s)?

Most people actually liked ACR.

Agreeed. Just seems that negativity gets blown out of proportion. 100 people bashing a game have a voice as loud as if it is the majority of players bashing it.

Umm...I'm not bashing any Creative Directors. You missed the point. I'm asking about how will Ubisoft find a new Creative Director now that Alex Amancio is leaving as well. I really love ACR, and have no arguments about. :)

I know you're not. Bradkinn and Kriegerdesgotte seem to be.

Well I believe it would be the same as for any position. Applications, hiring, whatnot. ;)

I'm pretty sure that The creative director was chosen for AC3 before ACB even came out. And I'm pretty sure it wasn't Amancio.

The creative director oversees the whole project. He/she has to make final decisions about what stays and goes, how the game feels to play, coordinating all of the departments, keeping everything "on brand", etc. Obviously there are team leaders and other directors making similar decisions down the hierarchy too, but the creative director has the ultimate responsibility.

A creative director will often have a speciality in one field and, through their experience, will have picked up a working knowledge of the kinds of pressures faced by other team members. The creative director may still be doing some of the hands-on work within their specialism as well as their CD role.
