Having re-skinned a few models in other games (Mainly in Left 4 Dead, by Telum), I've been wanting to do a new skin or two for Altair. I've seen some skins floating around, but I haven't found any help on how to do it.

Could anyone here help me on what to do, and what I'll need? Specifically what files I need to edit and what programs I need to do so?

There are already threads for it, use the 'Find' button.

Simple keywords like 'Altair, skin, help, texture' etc. Both here and with Google. I know how to search.

Could someone please just help me with what I want?

You didn't search hard enough. (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5251069024/m/6491083166/p/1) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

That's not what I'm looking for.

I want to know how to skin Altair myself. I don't want to see another person's re-skin.
I can't see where in that thread it explains how to actually create your own skin.

Edit - Found it. Thanks Xan

The Scimitar engine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scimitar_%28game_engine%29) used by Ubisoft is pretty complicated. There's a tool to extract textures but there's isn't anything to replace it. Texmod it seems, is the only way to mod AC.

also for some reason you can only ever change the DX9 skins, if you play the game in DX10 you cant mod any skins.
