We all know they were crappy aircraft but at the beginning of the war, thats all Britain had! Crews were ordered on missions that everyone must have known were suicidal and yet they still went ... that's bravery!!

Flying a Battle over enemy territory and you might be able to feel how they felt .. you might even develop tactics to live a few extra seconds longer?

Hampdens, Swordfish, Battles, Hs126's & 123's, 109D's and Storches. Bring 'em on!

Roll on planes that require cunning, boldness, and much stout the night before! Seriously, the Hampden was not a mere bomb truck---it was a torp bomber, and Learoyd's bombed out the locks on the Dortmund-Ems Canal, and Guy Gibson retails a number of harrowing special night missions including, as I recall, chucking bombs into tunnels. Any red-blooded virtual Anglo bomber pilot wants to have a go at the Maas bridges in a Battle! Totally agree with Feathered_IV---"I've had a gut full of late-war vanilla uber planes"!!!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

We don't need the Battle as we have the Blenheim, I'd prefer them to direct any efforts towards a Wellington to be honest.

Indeed, pressed in to service when the Beaufort squadrons were sent to the Middle/Far East.

You could say that raid was a sort of precursor to the Dambusters. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

A Hampden would be great http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif, but I can't see them making any other bombers flyable after the Blenheim.

If they did, I think the Wimpy would be the best choice because of it's extensive use in overseas theatres.

I'm all for as many bombers for all air forces - but the plane I'd like to see made flyable for release or soon after release is the Beaufighter http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Beauforts, Blenheims, Hampdens, Do17, Lysanders, amphibians, and floats planes all come right afterwards http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I'd be up for any flyable bomber http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hopefully Oleg would compromise in time and left third parties make them etc.

A Hampden raid, or a whimpy raid would be fantastic http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Its a shame we wont get the wellignton flyable. It would match up much better with the He111 for online playing.

Spitfire : Me109E
Hurricane : Me110
He111 : Wellington

Stuka : ????

Which is closer to the He111 bomb load, the Blenhiem or the Wellington? I am assuming Wellington.

From a mission-building PoV, the Lysander would be an excellent addition to the unarmed aircraft group. The P-II is a passable substitute but has no cargo-dropping facilties.
Re: the Battle you have to be realistic....how many people are going to fly an unarmed light bomber with absolutely no defensive capabilities? Most of those that were used in action never came back, the rest were relegated to support duties away from the war-zone before being unceremoniously scrapped. Just from a resources/time pov I'd rather see the effort go elsewhere.

I don't mean to be negative - I'm right behind the Wimpey and the early medium-heavies (and the Lysander) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif - I just wonder whether the Battle wouldn't be a time-waster, modelling-wise?

Flying suitcase? Nah. Gimme a Wellington!

Not only will it be appropriate for BoB, they served throughout the war with distinction in dozens of roles. Once the model is built it will be time well spent.

Just been looking at bomb loads and the Wellington would indeed be a great matchup with the He111.

Wellington Bomb load 4500lbs
He111 bomb load 4400lbs

Would be better than the Blenhiem for online wars/maps really.

It would be good for allot of things!

Another great addition would be the Sterling and Sunderland.

This may have been asked & answered somewhere, but let me ask again :is the Shagbat( Supermarine Walrus, that is) going to be modeled for this game? Ditto the Heinkle 114? I haven't seen screenshots of either yet.I can guess these might be AI a/c ,but would they be programmed to rescue flyers down in the drink? If the player bailed out over the channel could we expect perhaps a track of one of these a/c coming to get us as we drifted ( first person) around for a minute or two in our dingy? I know no one can probably answer these questions ( except perhaps Oleg) but it is fun to speculate... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The RAF definately needs bombers.

Between 7 and 21 September RAF bomber command began a concerted effort to bomb the German invasion fleet in harbor due to a British belief that the invasion was about to be launched. In those 14 days Bomber Command sank 21 merchant ships, 5 tugs and, 214 barges representing 12% of the invasion force. On 17 September alone shipping in Dunkirk harbor lost 84 barges sunk or damaged to bombing.

The Hampden was one of the major players. A crew member (Sgt J Hannah) of an 83Sqd Hampden received the Victoria Cross on one of these missions on the night of Sept 15-16 1940. Another VC was awarded (F/L RAB Learoyd of 49 Sqd) for an attack on the Dortmund-Ems canal on the night of Aug 12-13 1940.

The Hampden was also a torpedo bomber.

On Sept 3 1939, the RAF had 8 Hampden squadrons. A total of 1580 were built.
